One of the best OS'es I have seen. IMHO, Ubuntu and Kubuntu are Linux done right to get to the general user

I know right, they had such a good sales plan.  Make Vista completely suck and make everyone totally annoyed by it and so they begrudgingly buy Windows 7.  Reminds me of when Cingular bought AT&T and made it so that the people with AT&T had horrible service after the buyout so that we had to migrate over to AT&Tingular. I hate those bastards.

Edit: Nevermind I guess it was Cingular that bought AT&T Wireless..

I was a little confused myself but I found a pretty funny post in Yahoo answers of someone trying to explain it...

"Cingular was a joint venture between at&t (formerly known as SBC) and BellSouth. When at&t bought BellSouth recently, they took control of the entire Cingular company, and decided to rename it "at&t Wireless". This is not to be confused with the company "AT&T Wireless", which was purchased by Cingular when AT&T was purchased by SBC.

Confused? Yeah. It's confusing. In the beginning there was BellSouth Mobility, Ameritech, Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, and PacBell Mobile, which "merged" into Cingular. Then there was AT&T Wireless, which was purchased by Cingular, mostly for the customer base. So at that point, AT&T Wireless ceased to exist. Then, SBC bought AT&T and renamed the new company "at&t" (lowercase). And now that at&t bought BellSouth (and BellSouth's share of the joint Cingular venture), they control 100% of the Cingular venture, they've renamed it from Cingular to "at&t wireless."

Bottom line: It's really still the same company. Just a new name reflecting the unified ownership. Same towers, same phones, same service. You'll have to decide if that's good or bad. :) "

ON TOPIC:

I will stick with XP till I get a new computer.  I don't game too much on my computer anymore so I see no need in getting a new one.  I did do little upgrades like more memory and newer graphics card..  Maybe in 2-3 years I will get another computer and try Windows 7.

I've been on Windows  7 since beta (first Microsoft beta I've tried that didn't crash once) and I'm pretty happy with it. The taskbar management is deifnitely a step up (with all of the software I have open for my job, and still being able to fit on one row, was impressive).

I havent looked at too many Linux GUIs in years (about the time KDE 2 just got released). As for comand line based systems (I have a few servers running CLI only), I love Debian.

Well I can't say anything about bad about Win 7, even if I wanted. Windows 7 just runs stable, 100x faster than Vista, and is more secure. they did a damn good job with it.  Some of the people I know were diehard win98 and XP fans and most of them upgraded to Win7.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Windows 7 is a great OS, I personally prefer osx but 7 was a great step up from vista.

only because xp got old and vista sucked.

if vista was better, people wouldnt have bothered getting windows 7.

windows 7 is what vista should have been in the first place.

I don't understand the Vista hate. I've never had an issue other than it being a resource hog (same story for 7). Windows XP far less reliable. Sometimes it even fucks up from Windows Update.

Anyhow, all this misinformation about Vista has done a great job moving Windows 7.
