It's Wii's turn to have a new release but have HW go down. Couple of weeks ago it was PS3 with 6 new releases and HW went down. Most odd.

Gotta be happy with PS3's performance in Japan in 2010, unless you're a Wii fan of course. #1 home console, I do hope it remains in that position for the rest of the year. That'd mean each console could be the winner in one of the regions, tracked. I bet that would be rather unprecedented, even on a single year basis:

The year could end with:

PS3 - 1st in Japan (this one's going to be tight, though only if GT5 drops this side of January),

360 - 1st in Americas (though it's got a fair bit of ground to make up before it overtakes the Wii so Kinect has its work cut out for it),

Wii - 1st in EMEAA (I think this one is in the bag, but you never know).

Too bad PS3 only has a shot at being 1st in the smallest region.

lol so Wii sales are pretty much same as previous week and PS3 increased...

Incredible!

Ps3 is where it's at for Home Consoles JP :D!

The only one coming up with a scenario like this would be Crazzyman..

Like PS2.....oh wait.  Just kidding lol.  I just REALLY wish we had the ability to make charts still because I really wanna see if Wii is still trending above PS2 at this point in its life.

The Wii has fallen way behind.  The PS2 was at about 15 million after 202 weeks.

Wii 1st in EMEAA? When did Europe demonstrated any major love for the Wii and it's games? No way in hell even if Gran Turismo 5 releases in the last week of the year. Damn, Wii is third there right now and no major games in the horizon to improve it's situation (it's not like DK was ever big in Europe).

I think it is more doable that Wii could rise to first in Japan with DK but even that is unlikely so PS3 should be first in two regions. It will be third in America for sure though. We'll have an evenly matched holiday season and it's difficult to predict which console will be on top.

when people are talking about Wii trending above PS2 they are primarily talking about WW, not Japan. I believe that is the case here as well, even though this is a MC thread, otherwise the reference wouldn't make sense..

Ya I meant worldwide.  Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not going to call the Wii dead yet.  If it still sells below when the new colors come out, It may be true.

Any how, I don't think John Lucas's future is going to be realized.  There was alot of talk about how third parties were going to switch all of their development to the Wii and that they were only on HD systems because "they didn't know the Wii would be so successful."

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I think they've know for a while, they just don't seem to care all that much.  They're making money.

it's not that they don't care, its just they want to create bigger worlds, and have more space for development, at least the big devs do, the wii has a lot of 3rd party support, but not big HD ip support because those games were meant for "nexgen" visuals... and worlds... and A.I, and online... etc..
