Oh please kid, you don't know your gaming history.

When Sony started Sega and Nintendo were working hard on making games while Sony blew rediculous amounts of money on commercials and hype. The ad campaign that Final Fantasy 7 had was bigger than segas whole year advertising budget.

Sony would love to be in the position Microsoft is in today as far as marketting is conerned...

why are you trying to change the topic? did i ask wheter or not sony wanted to be in microsofts position? I just asked which one you guys perferred more. Thanks for the history lesson btw :)

See but you can't do that. Ask a question based on a statement that is biased and not correct and then expect people to answer with simple option 1 or 2.

We got Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Halo REach and Fable 3 from microsoft this year. Hows that not investing in games?

i never said that microsoft is doing anything wrong. In fact in my thread i mentioned how both methods are profitable. I think you are trying to create an argument with yourself.

Actually, neither of them has generated much profit lately at least in gaming.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

They both do both.

This, and don't try to say otherwise.

They both do it, to say sony advertises little and microsoft doesn't make much games, well...

Sony spends most of their budget making games and not marketing them. Microsoft spends most of their budget marketing instead of making games.

Both turn out to be proftiable methods in the end because microsoft can get the word out more and expect massive sales for one title but sony just has more games for people to buy. What do you guys think of this? Which method do you prefer more?

Honestly your comment above whether true or untrue comes across as more opinion then fact as you have not presented any links that might be used as evidence.

BOTH COMPANIES spend TONS marketing games- Sony might spend more money in some parts of the world then others - Same for Microsoft.  Where's your evidence Sony spends more?  If Sony spends more making games.. Then how do you explain Microsoft has quite a few more games on their console then Sony does .. Unless You're factoring in comments from developers that it takes them more time and money to make the same similar quality game for the PS3 then it does for the 360.  MS over the lifetime of both consoles has sold almost 8 Billion (dollars) more in just games alone with only a 5 million console lead ..

*Xbox 360-library= 642 titles .... total number of games sold worldwide= 388.01 million

*PS3---------library= 484  titles .... total number of games sold worldwide= 262.09 million

I think you are taking this wayy to seriously. Im not trying to insult anyone. We can argue who has better games whatever. But we can't deny that sony does have more 1st party studios and therefore able to release more games. Its a fact. Just look at next years lineup for PS3. Sure microsoft has its games too but they obviously rely on a smaller number of games and then do a huge marketing push for each of them. And thats not bad either. I don't know why you turning this into an argument or why you are taking this to heart.

Problem is, FF7 was good.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

one is the biggest electronic company in the world and the other is the biggest software company in the world

SONY has sold 300 million home consoles more than 50% of the total number of home consoles sold

MS is the newest player in the Console gaming Scene with around 60 million total home consoles sold

Sony has an large collection of First party devolopers plus an array of 3rd party deals since PS1 and PS2 like Nintendo

MS is still building its First party and 3rd party deals up

MS is spending 500 million on kinect marketing launch

That is probably SCE entire Marketing budget could be even less.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I wonder where you think Nintendo fits in
