Hi guys. I've some very rough estimates on Portugal hw sales, a mix of gfk portugal data with some inside info from retailers, but the market here is very undertracked for 360 and Nintendo, and I fear a bit overtracking for Sony, mostly because of:
1. Nintendo isn't installed here (though they have a representant distributer)
2. Microsoft here is smaller than my nuts on ice
3. The largest game distributer (holding about 70% of the market brands) hushes Nintendo games, gives little to no support to 360 and in the opposite gives major support to PS2, PS3, PSP games, in detriment of the other platforms.
Suming up...this is Sony land.
Latest gfk official data tracked about 1M PS2 consoles, 30k PS3 and about 85k PSP in the territory. They only released - afaikor - data for Sony consoles. These next numbers are rough estimates from retailers, extrapolated to the whole market:
Wii: 8000 - 12000
DS: 40000 - 50000
360: 7000 - 10000
The market seems to be balancing a bit with the comming of GAME and GameSpot, giving more support to 360 and Nintendo products, but this is still a country where most games are sold at hipermarkets and toys'r us, so it's gonna take a big while for a full balance to be installed here and data start to be more reliable, a part from the ocasional Sony boast by gfk.
