Any fan of God of War games would be remiss not to pick up Castlevania.  The game gets better and better as you progress.  I know I'm probably in the minority but I think Castlevania (outside of the platforming gameplay mechanics) is a better game then God of War III.  Not better then GoW I and II though (They were trend setters in their time).

Also, Enslaved is a great game as well.

If gamers want hard core games to continue we'd better start supporting the good ones by buying them.  Enslaved and Castlevania are both better than Medal of Honor...  By miles...  Medal of Honor is more a CoD knock off then Castlevania can be considered a GoW knock-off.  And Enslaved is nothing new but different...  A fresh look at a previously stale genre.

Well, I am a huge fan of God of War, and God of War III is the best GoW IMO, so I don't agree with you that Castlevania is better, but that's an opinion of course. But you're right, GoW fans should really pick up Castlevania, it's a great game with influences of God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. I just hope it has good legs.

Quickie calculation. Nearly 25% of Wii software sales are titles that come with hardware.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

people forget 1 year ago PS3 had a price cut and got slim and Wii had a price cut too

hence the massive YOY decline for consoles.

Agreed.  Particularly with the 360 possibly having its peak year be its 5th on the market.  That's just nuts.

The industry has grown and is still growing.  The consoles are more expensive than last gen and continue to sell at higher percentages.  

What's weird?  This gen I only could afford to own one console and have bought less than 5 games a year for the last couple of years.  Guess I'm the only one affected by the economy . . .

i agree,not sure why this is suddenly a gaming is doomed thread

wii party has sold 1m hasn't it,wii has sold more conoles this year than the other 2 according to the wizard,ps3 has sold 20m more s/ware than last year and the 360 is proving most people wrong from last years expectations that i remember and we are entering the funtime of the year

the ds is not doing badly either o-O

maybe enslaved and castlevania should have done better but they are hardly blockbuster genres

i think res 2 had a bump last week but it wasn't mentioned,i wonder what it is

Of course sales are still great compared to last gen unit wise but compared to last couple of years sales are horrible. The fact is that whole market is massively down even compared to 2007 which is not good news when developing costs have exploded compared to last gen. Gaming industry needs to grow all the time as developing expenses go up. Actually if we go by financials market was doing a lot better last gen with almost every publisher posting profits (except MS).

thats right i will be buying alot of these games but i'm not paying full whack for them,i've got plenty of backlog to keep me going

I'm sorry , but you must be seeing the whole thing through rose-tinted glasses if you think everything is alright and probably that this gen will last until 2014. It won't - and if the massive decline we are experiencing right now isn't clear enough yet, just wait until February or so.

Maybe good sales could go on a little longer with PS3 at $199, but we'll see at least two new plaftforms next year and the remaining ones just twelve months later at most.

In the end I was right.

But GT5 and PS3 are dommed.
