A psp phone would kill the iphone like the psp go killed the ipod touch.



Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Sony is very well known for selling products at severe losses, what was it like 300$ lost on every PS3 for years. That would make the retail cost of such a phone without a contract about 550$ to manufacture and with Sony's infastructure  bet that would be possible.

Fact is the phone has been confirmed pretty much, now the question is how much punch this baby will be packing?

sales-wise the psp did about 1/2 of all iphones, not bad for a console, a console/phone usually sells more, it can beat it but will it do it?

Will the psp-phone be a good phone? good camera? good for listening to music etc?

Will psp games be compatible with it? (the way I understood is sony is making an droid games market, where not only psp-phone but other android devices that are certified by sony (have good specs) can play minis, and Ps1 classics, and some special games for the psp-phone )

Well according to Sony at their E3 press conference for the launch of PSP it was going to kill the GameBoy! I wouldn't be suprised if they made a bold claim like the PSPhone will kill the I-Phone.


They were right then...

PSP Killed Gameboy. But the DS killed the PSP.

Sony has no where near the reputation and presence that Apple does in the portable space. For absolute starters, Sony would need an app store that is even sort of comparable... which they don't have.


the android market, and this combined with google could easily compete with apple, I doubt they'll destroy apple, but they can compete if sony ericsson makes the phone easy and far more impressive than the iphone interface, which is possible..
