Sony is very well known for selling products at severe losses, what was it like 300$ lost on every PS3 for years. That would make the retail cost of such a phone without a contract about 550$ to manufacture and with Sony's infastructure  bet that would be possible.

Fact is the phone has been confirmed pretty much, now the question is how much punch this baby will be packing?
