Almost always dubs eat away some of the immersion. I don't watch anime (or anything else, for that matter) very much but whenever I do, I want the original language. The same goes for games too.

@darth:
well, i do unterstand what is going on in generall already, like the others already said, you get used to the most common phrases in no time.
and there IS a difference in believability, because a
"Maa nante koto nanda.!!!"
simply sounds better as a 'oh mah god.' from Microsoft Sam.
even if you dont get what it means, you just know that he's shocked by something. a lot.
but of course, when i watch anime's, and i see it has good english Dubs (good german arent existent, we germans suck.), i watch them with these. but thats not the case in every single anime.
The main difference is that some japanese cartoon have very mature theme. We cannot say the same of american cartoon, some are adult cartoon (like south park) but they arent mature. Look at japanese anime series like Rainbow or Kuroshitsuji. We dont have anything similar here. I completely understand how someone can love japanese anime while not liking american cartoon, particularly at age 20 plus. Now, thats not a reason to call yourself philip san or call your brother oni-chan.

I want subs for everything I watch. Anime, movies, interviews, news, everything. That may have something to do with me being Swedish though. We seldom dub things here! ![]()
I have loved anime since long before the anime craze started (in Sweden), enjoying Sailor Moon and Silver Fang among others as a child. I like the artstyle, colours and shadows often seen in anime.
I also love different cultures and I think the Japanese culture is among the most interesting ones!

I think variety is one of the key reasons people like anime so much. You may not be into battle-focused anime like DBZ, Bleach, and Naruto but maybe you like comedy or romance. There will almost always be a series or movie that suits your tastes in anime. There are so many art-styles and ideas in anime that are unique to Japanese culture that I find intriguing.
I also love the flow of Japanese language. I think it's a very beautiful language and it has a very specific structure, so eventually you don't always need subs to understand lines. I'm not opposed to dubs however it can be very distracting when even one of the main characters is poorly done. I'm currently watching XXXholic on Netflix and it has pretty good dubbing, but I also watched Soul Eater in english and they butchered my favorite character. Dubs tend to be very hit or miss which is why I tend to opt for subs if possible.

For a Weebo?
man you're going to run out of jizz if you live here , everyone looks like this , fat and full of cleavage and makeup
btw to turn you off, thats indeed her natural boobs, but shes holding off her stomach and have a certain angle so her cleavage show more, while having lots of makeup and bright as hell light so she appear to be slim and the light removes all the fat skin tear, its a common trick to do on facebook and myspace whores
