If I am not mistaken Heavy Rain, RE5, EyePet and other Move patched titles went up in sales along with the launch of the Move.

You had people choosing between Sports Champions, Start The Party, RE5, Heavy Rain, EyePet, as well as any of the other Move launch titles.

It isn't like Sports Champions is the only good Move title. I currently own Sports Champions an RE5: GE.

Underlined: Not very much, and not nearly enough to make a number this high.

Move titles in general charted quite low, even in the very first week Sports Champions was the only one high in the charts.

Alright, but then factor in those who already had these titles that decided to buy a Move controller?

Those 500k EyePet owners in EMEAA only needed to buy a Move controller and nothing else since they already had a camera. If any of those households had RE5 or Heavy Rain they could have been tempted to buy the bundle.

Obviously not everyone ran out to grab Sports Champions, especially in the territory that most likely had the largest PSEye install base.

For every reason you think the numbers here are right there is a reason for why they could be wrong.

I mentioned that in my previous post, but even assuming a very low overlap between those titles, you would need quite a high attach rate among owners of those titles to amount to anything significant, and there's no way the total even approaches 1.5 million.

And honestly I'm skeptical that many people buy a controller to play a game they already have, that bit better, without picking up more software as well.

What about PSEye sales between March 2007 and October 2009? PS3 launch and EyePet launch in EU by the way.

Also this doesn't mean SONY sold all 1.5M of whatever Move, Eye, Nav combo this counts as, but it must have sold enough to make them think about producing more.

I am not claiming to be right, but it is very possible that the Move is having a bigger impact than initially thought.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

There's no way vgchartz is significantly under tracking Move in Europe, we'd see Sports Champions et all in the PAL charts (chart-track etc.) if they were. The 1.5 million figure is hugely inflated somehow, probably a combination of talking "shipped", and counting each component unit (Move controller, navigation controller, PSEye).

Sports Champions isn't bundled in Europe. That bundle comes with only a demo disc.

I know, but surely people buy *something* with Move. Unless you're suggesting they're buying it in large numbers just for the demo disc.

I guess old owners of RE5 and Eyepet might pick it up without a game, but I'm skeptical that's happening in large amounts.

The starter pack alone outsold Reach in September in Spain and was likely not too far below Reach in Italy and Germany.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

He sounds pretty certain and pretty specific in the interview.  If they've shifted 1.5 million Move units in Europe alone as he states, then even allowing for a much less impressive launch in US they're off to a pretty good start - even though the number of individual owners must be less than that total, something clear from the software sales as well.

And unless he's playing very crafty with the truth the mention of increasing production strongly implies this isn't a case of over-shipping with lots sitting on shelves.

Will be curious to see how software does for Move, though, and what word of mouth and interest is like closer to December in Europe.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

The Move requires the Eye, although not the Nav. I doubt they made 500k Navigators. I would guess 250k Nav, 500k Eye and 750k Move. Eye numbers only higher than Nav because it is bundled. Remember that 500k people MINIMUM have the PSEye thanks to EyePet, plus what about Eye of Judgement?

Actually Eye numbers could be lower since I don't think the bundle includes a game in Europe right?

The Starter packs do not contain a game.

The Mediamarkts (5000lb Gorilla in Switzerland) here got an inital shipment of around 120 Starter packs, a dozen dildos and 6 Navs each. Everything sold out within around two weeks. The second shipments were around 24 Starter packs, 20 dildos and 3-4 Navs. All sold out except for the starter packs. Smaller shops seem to sell slower, but generally I'd say a sell-through of >85% of the first two shipments is a good guess. If that 1.5 mil is correct, and Switzerland is not an exception in consumer behaviour, I'd guess around 500'000-600'000 move units sold in Europe to date.

Interesting ratios.  It would be useful to know if there is any kind of core Move customer and what configuration they use.

I had an Eye myself so bought 2 Move wands and 1 navi controller.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Oh God, seriously already????!!!!

When seeing all of the components that make up the Move, I had a VERY bad feeling that we were going to see Sony reporting combined figures that honestly tell us NOTHING but make it seem as if the Move has a larger install base than it actually has.  And here. we.  are.

And now with no NPD public numbers, as someone mentioned already they start touting EU numbers that can't be substantiated.

Just when I started having more respect for the resurgence of the PS3, suddenly its 2006 again ...

LOL

Well, considering the move software sales... ppl are buying move without getting any softwares? Pretty weird huh.

Sports Champion the best selling move software was only 19th in UK last week. which is the biggest market in EU and also have the biggest PS3 install base in EU.
