Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii still rare in US? How is this possible.

Faced with phenomenal demand, Nintendo will up their supply, but I don't see them supplying 20 million this year even with phenomenal supply.

Nintendo is a very conservative company. Increasing production is an expensive endeavour, and takes a long time to break even. If Nintendo decide to double production, then they might satisfy pent-up demand in a couple of months, and then suddenly they are producing millions of consoles expensively, and then they have to store them expensively because they're not selling as quick, they have to disable a production facility because they're producing too much, etc.

You'll most likely see Nintendo judging demand carefully, increasing production slowly, and making sure they time things well so that when pent-up demand is satisfied a new big game comes out and they are constantly selling the consoles they make.

I doubt there will be enough of an increase in production from Nintendo to have 20 million consoles sold at the end of this year, whether the demand is there or not)

a toy? is that why all the old people jumped on board?

It's a great console with fun games. Something PS3 could never hope for.

Yeah, I'd like to see your proof of old people buying the Wii en masse.

I'd also like you to defend your idiotic statement about the PS3 without completely retracting it.

Sometimes it hurts to go number 2.

When the PSP launched, the Sony fanboys were caling the DS a toy and people would get tired of it once the novelty wore off. Well, we all know how that turned out.

Hey now, some of us are actually trying to make points and statements without throwing around distasteful remarks here.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Fanboy remarks will be called idiotic because there's no other adjective that describes them in a better way.

Still waiting on the proof that senior citizens are lining up for the Wii, btw.

Saying the Wii is a toy is a fanboy remark.

I believe I clarified that I was stating my opinion. The poster in question, on the other hand, stated his opinion as if it were fact. Big difference.

He also gave his opinion. That's what we do here. You don't need to write "I think" or "My opinion is" before your sentences.
When we want to give facts, usually we use numbers, links or quotes proving them.

Well, he stated his opinion as if it were fact. It simply takes tact to convey an opinion and not mere verbage. Don't defend fanboys.
