Forums - Nintendo - Marking Zelda and Metroid 25th anniversaries (2011)

With the red Wii and Mario pack-in being released for Mario's 25th anniversary, might Nintendo do something similar for the Zelda and Metroid anniversaries next year?  Maybe a gold Wii with Twilight Princess to coincide with Skyward Sword's release, and a silver Wii with either Other M or the Prime trilogy for Metroid?  I think Nintendo will need to try a few tricks next year to sustain sales - this could help.

Well, I hope so! I'd kill for a limited Metroid Wii!

oh, a Zelda 25th would be awesome and probably a given. Metroid is more of a cult following and I don't see it happening. Kinda like how Donkey Kong didn't get any type of thing while Mario did. Even though Mario started out in a DK game.

That is an interesting idea, and one I had not thought of. For there to be any chance of it happening though I think the Mario 25th anniverary bundle needs to be a success this year.

I also don't think a Metroid one is likely, it is just not a big enough franchise. Zelda on the other hand is an important franchise to Nintendo, and has been since the NES. Also with the release of Skyward Sword on Wii and OoT 3D on 3DS there could be special edition handheld and portable console editions. That will be interesting to see.

I'd definitely pick up a 3DS for a special addition. Though I'm not rebuying a Wii.

Good idea.  I remember for the Zelda's 20th anniversary they released this shirt.

Evolution of Link's shield (Famicom, Super Famicom, N64, Gamecube), crossed Master Swords, and Hyrulian text.

We already had Prime Trilogy, now i'd like basically everything else packed onto a disc. Given that Metroid, Metroid II, Super, and Fusion have to be comparatively tiny (i'd doubt more than 100 MB for the set, and that's a very liberal estimation), you could probably cram it on a dual-layer disc with Other M, then do a promotional gig like that.

That'd be a fitting aniversary. Pack that with Prime Trilogy, though?

Mmmm...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Green Wii = Epic

Matter of fact, any console in green is Epic

I'd say have them include Metroid: Other M rather than Trilogy since they want more people to play it.  Also include Metroid:Zero Mission instead of the original Metroid but still include Metroid II, Super, and Fusion.  And maybe a metallic green/orange Wii, but if not that just make it black.

I'm actually still mad at nintendo for not including a Link to the past on The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition... Damn that gba release of aLTTP!!!
