Forums - Gaming - Which great games you couldn't understand?

There are games in the market that are critically acclaimed and are very successful with people talking about them in many online communities like VGC.

However, when you get one of these games and play it.... "What"? It's not that you hate the game, but you just can't get it. Reasons could be:

  • Maybe you think the game is overrated, although good
  • Maybe you found the game is not of your liking as you expected.
there are more reasons but I can get them.
So, which games have you played and found yourself not understanding what makes it so good compared to the "general" community?
Mine:
- Halo
- God of War
- Kirby (not epic yarn)
- MvC 1 and 2(although I want to try 3)
- Zelda games on DS

Probably Super Mario Galazy. It was good but I still think Sunshine was better.

Pretty much the entire FPS genre, there are a few that I enjoy (Bioshock, Perfect Dark, TimeSplitters 2), but I generally can't stand the rest of them

Super Mario Galaxy, Gta IV, Lbp, Zelda ocarina of time, Half Life.

Take my love, take my land..

Metal Gear Solid

Gran Turismo (the sim racing genre its not my thing)

Halo- It just plays like an average FPS to me. When I played it I thought... hmmm... Timesplitters but slow.

Little Big Planet- I get the appeal but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

Dead Space- I was bored tbh. Nothing stood out.

- Half-Life 2

- Bioshock

- CoD: Modern Warfare 2

- Fallout 3

I have no such issues.  Generally if its good I can see why, even if it's not to my taste.  However, I do struggle with guilty pleasure games (and films).  I just never get how people can like stuff that's bad (if kind of good/bad sometimes).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

back in day: Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid

Xenogears

Final fantasy X
