Forums - Sony - Don't you hate copy-protected save files? is there a way to copy them?

Yeah, that's the one thing I really don't like about the PS3 this generation.  And also the fact that Sony keeps removing features.  PS3 is still my favorite console, but Sony does need to address a couple things like this.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

What I don't like about the PS3 is:

1- The YLOD

2- Copy-Protected save files T_T

3- No support for NTFS external HDDs :S

4- No MKV files support

I think Sony adds more features to the PS3 than the ones they remove... It's not so bad I guess...

I hope they remove copy-protection of save files with an update... if that's even possible... maybe it's each game company that needs to release a patch for each game to remove copy-protection... I really don't know  :P

you can re-format the the NTSF ones in windows if the drive came preformatted... or linux, or mac(can't say for sure, I don't use mac). It will wipe his files though.

Yeah when my first PS3's blu-ray drive died, I used the "backup" hard drive function. When I got my new PS3 from Sony, I restored it and lost out on some of my game saves. Megaman 9 wouldn't let me load my save at all. LBP would let me load, but said that trophies would be disabled. So I had to start over :(

i dont think i've encountered that problem yet, all of my saved files worked on my boyfriends ps3 when i spent some time there and when i saved the new save files from his ps3 to continue my new games on my ps3 they all worked again.

i think copy protected save files are a stupid idea.
