I was browsing Gamestop, checking games that come out before the 25th because my K-Mart vouchers expire then. Anyways I came across this thing and wanted to ask.

Would this really work good? Would it really be like a 5.1 surround sound system in a little 2.1 soundbar?

If so, that's great and convenient. I still haven't set up my surround sound again since moving because it's just a pain in the ass and I don't like all those wires. 

Anyways let me know. I would easily sell my old Sony DVX500 5.1 and just use something like this instead. I could do so without really spending anything out of pocket if I do so before the vouchers expire.

I've been questioning the quality of this as well.  I've yet seen any reviews on this.  It has a built-in subwoofer which im concerned it wouldnt sound as nice rather than havent a separate subwoofer.  I feel that this is just an economic sound system direct towards gamers that dont have the money to fork over a something that's pricier than their PS3.  

Yeah I think i'm just gonna say fuck it and buy a game instead with the vouchers. I have been content with the sound from the TV for about a year now.

Soundbars in general are hit or miss, really...My JVC Soundbar is Really nice, and works really well, but I checked out some others and they just sounded like upgraded TV speakers...I'd buy this JVC one again, though, and again if there was a place for it

I have a Yamaha sound bar which costs 3X as much at retail and I don't like it very much... Mind you my other sound source are Bose surround speakers.

It really depends what your expectations are.

These things fill the room with sound but in no way shape or form are they equal to 5.1 sound.
