Well this of course is dissappointing news, but at least some of us fans are grateful this isnt a main installment.

Seriously Square's quality is declining fast.  Tetsuya's work seems to be the only one gamers are wanting.

Well they still have the DQ series, which is comparatively getting better each installment, (thankfully). and i think Wada is doing well by integrating the foregin studios and getting more IPs recognised, imo i dont think Normura's Versus will be that good, based on FF13 and the FF7 compilation. i really think that the FF name has taken a LOT of punishment in the last few years and they could be treading very dangerous ground if Nomura cant succeed with Versus.

I blame Wada.

The thing that bugs me with FFXI & FFXIV is that they are MMORPGs but get a  main number when tactics didn't they should have named them FFOnline instead.

Yeah, but what can you do, they chose to make it like that, and while i dont agree with it, as long as the single player installments keep coming without delays from the online ones, then its not too bad.

This is Square Enix, so expect to be dissapointed lol.

-They need to fix Wada. Or boot him out.

-I'll like them to make the controls, keyboard and mouse friendly.

-open that auction house I see that is closed in Limsa Lominsa. (I can see that auction house symbol from FFXI in there.) Maybe they have it in other towns. Or, just for show and tell.

-They'll have to upgrade the UI. Upgrading the UI will take hours, or even half a day.

-Increase rate of regening Anima, and doing guildleves

That is all my "fix it first list"

I'm pretty sure they can fix this in a month or two, three max. Maybe four.. If they can't then I'll be angry. They should have taken care of these issues sooner.

I don't craft, so I can't comment on that. I don't have time for it lol.

Now time to compare my experience with FFXI. I know its been out in Japan on PS2 a whole year before it got a western release on PC in 2004 right? What I find amusing is that they added German and French auto-translation, plus Lv85 cap in FFXI not long ago. So, I find that interesting since those are already in FFXIV except the cap is rank 50. They are making progress lol.  I can all ready see a big patch coming soon in the future though.

And this is exactly what I'm talking about with people thinking there's a magic easy button.

  • I'm not sure how much involvement Wada had, but this game was almost completely outsourced to China.
  • Agreed that they need to make it mouse and keyboard friendly and this would probably be the easiest fix.  The lag would not be an easy fix.
  • L.O.L.  Fixing the UI would not take hours, it would take at least a month and that's even assuming they got it right on the first try.
  • Sorry, increasing the anima gain would be the easiest fix.

I agree too that they could probably do a lot in 3-4 months but that really doesn't excuse them from releasing the game in its current state.  Right now it's bad and it's broken.  It is simply inexcusable to release the game in its current state and expect players to sit back and wait happily.

I can understand things like airships and chocobos not being implemented, those aren't essential system.  Things like there being no auction house what-so-ever is inexcusable.  One of the reasons I quit was that I knew I would eventually want new weapons and armor and I didn't want to spend hours looking through retainers.  That's bullshit.  Implementing the AH is going to take time too, a lot of time.  We can hope most of the work is already done but at this point I'm not confindent.

And then there are all the just downright awful design decisions.  Forgetting the abyssmal UI, there are things like only being able to do 8 quests in 36 hours.  That is complete bullshit.  The sad thing is that the simply fix isn't even raising the number of quests you can do because 1) that would horribly unbalance the already horrible economy and 2) there aren't any interesting quests yet.  They got a lot of work cut out for them there.

I'll probably look in on the game again when the PS3 version releases but I'm really not confident they will really fix the game.  This time next year I fully expect the servers to be closed because while stupid people, overly optimistic people, and die hard fans will put up with this crap, most people won't and will quit the game.  Hell, I already know a good number of people going back to FFXI.

Imo, Wada is not to blame, i think Wada is now doing his best to strengthen Squares' other IPs and hes working well to try and integrate foreign studios with the company. besides Wada is a business man, he dosent make design choices on games, he just runs the company.

its not his fault that FF13 and FF13versus have taken 5 years, but he is doing something about it - going as far as saying that SE will not internally develop that type of game again. this is the right move imo, because you cant have 300 members of staff working on one game for 5 years imo.

oh and Wada has also acknowleged, using a certain arrangement of words, that 'many people are very unhappy with FF13', imo hes doing his best, but he dosent design SE's games, its not his fault if they're not good.
