Forums - Nintendo - Legitimate Wii software issue...

Hm, I actually haven't had mine do that. The only issue I have heard of, though never seen is a supposed over heating of the GPU causing some funny artifacting.

Do you notice anything during game play? or is this the only time it does it?

There are no artifacts anywhere on my screen.  My Wii runs perfectly fine other then this small issue.

never ever had this problem... weird

I noticed this issue to DarkNight. Used to happen when I loaded up a games and the screen would just stay blank for several minutes and at first I thought maybe something was wrong with the laser perhaps.

But what Ive also noticed is that it seems to happen more when its connected to the internet when I choose a channel. Saying all this, it dont do it much.

call me Aaronbunny!

Wii code: 6993 4542 2457 6182. plz add me Im a wiily gd friend

Can't say I've had this exact problem however whenever there's moving graphics on mine I get a noise effect across the screen(no not literally noise I mean like static) This includes all games and functions on the wii. It doesn't happen with composite cables only component. Think the problems with my TV? Or could it be the component cables any ideas?

That sounds more like the GPU overheating issue in Wii connect24 mode which is well documented. You should definately call Nintendo and get the official answer and possibly get your Wii sent out for repair.

I haven't seen this. Sometimes my Wii is off a week. Sometimes I play it everyday. Since GH3 has come out, I have been playing every day.

I thought of that potability but no, I'm sure it's just scaling noise. I don't leave wiiconnect on in standby mode because I simply have no reason to. I was thinking magnetic field from my PS3/360/surround sound or something else. Maybe there's a setting I can use on the TV to change it or something. I wish the 360 and wii had power off switches like the PS3 though, I'm too lazy to unplug them when I won't be using them for long periods of time just like the PS3.

Yeah, since this is ONLY happening at start time, and you get no lags during game play it can't possibly be an overheating issue with the CPU.

My guess is that maybe wii connect 24 is trying to reach out and get data about the game or chan and thats where the bottle neck is.  You can try disabling wii connect 24 and see if you get the same issue.

Other than that could be a firmware problem and contacting Nintendo would be the best solution.
