3D hogs the GPU a lot more than CPU but CPU has to be adequate as well. No Ps3 game will be running 1080p 3D ever...

2 reasons:

1. TV's which work with PS3 do not show 1080p resolution for gaming

2. PS3 has issues running 720p in 3D. Motostorm game in 3D is not anywhere close to 720p.

Not even Pong HD?

Correct...The current 3D TVs can't show Pong in 1080p 3D. Only 720p...unless you want it running at 24 frames per second.

I don't think the framerate matters for pong :D

Still, was a good read. You always learn something new when lurking through the forums here :D

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

3D is a much more significant strain on the GPU than on the CPU ... In very simple terms, most of what is done on the CPU is to determine the positioning of objects within 3 dimensional "game" space, and then these objects are transformed into a 2D image by the GPU. To produce a 3D image the objects are still only positioned in 3 dimensional games space once, and then rendered into two separate 2D images.

If you're wearing 3D glasses, it absorbs energy directly from your eyes (rather than the CPU)  to fuel it, speeding up the process at which your eyesight starts to fail but giving you the best ultimate 3D experience, which is more important than your health in the long run.

Even normal games that say they run in 1080p don't run in 1080p.  No games except maybe some fighting games, arcade games, or other games with not a lot going on run in 1080p and have good framerate.

Whatever it is you are smoking... can I have some?

While the TVs can't accept the signal and won't show 1080p even if GT5 does 1080p3D, there are other reasons why it most likely won't be 1080p 3D.

For one, GT5 won't be 1080p in 2D. They are using a scaling technique to strech the horizontal pixels from 1280 to 1920. Its running in 1280x1080p natievely. :)

Yeah its gt5p...GT5 specs are not out yet.

I really doubt they can magically bump the resolution, add damage and keep everything at 60 frames per second. But I could be proven wrong.

I remember they said Motorstorm in 3D was going to run at 480P in an article some time ago, wich makes sense since it would be the easiest way to adopt a game that usually is optimized to run at 720P.
