Forums - Nintendo - Iwata talks about 3DS price, people won't support high priced software

So hardware price'll help to give cheap software??

CEO Satoru Iwata addressed this issue during a Q&A session at a recent investors briefing. Said Iwata, "We don't believe that the world is in a state where high priced software will sell well, so we don't believe it will be in a price range too far off from current DS software."

This comes despite Iwata's expectations that 3DS software could span a whole range of development budgets, from the same cost as current DS games to extremely rich software that costs far greater than DS games. Nintendo does believe that because of this "dynamic range" of software development budgets, there could be some variance in software costs.

Good. I wouldn't want to pay $60 for a 3DS game :P

I would not pay 60 for a 3DS game or any handheld game for that matter. If next gen is anything higher I will shun everything to the bargain bin. Outrageous what we pay now for games.

I agree with that man. Unfortunately, I'm sure we'll be paying $70 for new games on the next Xbox and Playstation (Nintendo's console too depending on its power).

Games should be different prices depending on the cost to make just like how new ds games range from 19.99 to 34.99. My guess is that most will go anywhere from 29.99 to 44.99 I don't think they'll go to 50.

I have no doubt that most nintendo and square's games will be at the high end of the cost range.

Just think Super Mario 64 ds was a port of a n64 game and it cost 34.99 and the graphic's on that game didn't even change from the n64 at all.

edit: ok maybe it will go to up 50. Just looked at FF crystal chronicles for the ds and it 39.99... for a ds game. The 3ds will have better graphics plus 3d effect, voice acting, FMVs, fully ochrestrated music so...

I believe the prices are gonna be in the same range as DS' games. And I think that's good. 39.99 should be the top for the games.

The average I like to spend is 30 bucks. Only 40 on rare ocasions, like animal crossing or mario kart.

Here in the U.K DS games are generally £30 ($47.34) or £35 ($55.23) new in the retail shops, so I'm expecting the 3DS' games to cost similar

Games are cheaper now than in NES/SNES/N64 days.  You really don't know how good you have it.

If any of you payed more than 60 bucks for one of those games. Then you deserved to be ripped off. No game on ANY of those consoles is worth that. EVER.
