Forums - Gaming - Panasonic reveals a new handheld?

My, my it's the 3DO all over again, well maybe not

This is Jungle. It's the first portable gaming console designed exclusively for online gaming and MMORPGs. And it's from the company who gave us the 3DO nearly 20 years ago.

Sure, the PSP and Nintendo DS have online multiplayer gaming, but it's not the core of what they do. That's why Jungle seems more like a tiny PC, with a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchpad along with the d-pad and shoulder buttons you'd expect in a tiny gaming console—so you can take online games from the PC with you.

it really looks like a mini 3DO. lets just hope it won't bomb >_>;

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

I take dibs on the Panasonic fanboy title!

I wonder where we draw the line between a handheld and a really tiny laptop.  I guess I would have to know if this little thing has it's own game format or if it just plays any game that you can play on PC.

...

This is gonna bomb harder than the 3DO

Slightly incorrect. 3DO was made by the 3DO company, but their idea was to license out the hardware to hardware manufacturers. The 3DO Company simply set the standards for the hardware, designing it, but not building it

Panasonic was not the only one to produce 3DO for the 3DO company. Sanyo and Gold Star did so as well.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Welp, Ninendo and Sony had a good run.

It's cool that it runs Linux, I could see getting it for emulators and browsing and videos. I could see a decent homebrew community.

So.... a teeny weeny laptop?

I don't see this being popular anywhere else besides Korea.
