Forums - Gaming - A Bunch of Random Gaming/VGC questions!

Greetings! I've had a bunch of things I wanted to ask and discuss on these boards but haven't gotten around to doing it until now. Topics in this thread will be varied, so I hope I have it in the right forum. Also, I don't expect anyone to actually bother answering everything, but feel free to speak up in regards to any one thing in particular. And I know it's kinda strange to have so much stuff lumped into one thread, but I didn't wanna spam the boards with a ton of new threads.

1. Mario Kart Wii - Why doesn't it get more recognition around here? Why isn't it mentioned among titles like CoD and Halo? All I ever see are threads about Halo Reach vs GT5 lifetime sales or Halo vs CoD first week sales and I never see anything about MK Wii. I mean, where do most people see MK Wii in the grand scheme of things? Is it the most successful non-bundled console game ever? Is it the best selling exclusive ever? It's gotta be close...and the attach rate on it is insane - basically 30%  maybe a smidge higher.

2. Why are Sony fanboys so hardcore? I don't mean this as flame bait either. Every console maker has fanboys. I'm a bit of a 360 fanboy myself this gen, and have been a Nintendo fanboy in the past. What I've noticed about the Sony fanboys, though, is that they are Sony fans to the core. They don't just support the Playstation. They buy Sony TVs and laptops, and MP3 Players, etc. 360 fans seem to just be 360 fans. They don't really care what operating system their computer uses or what brand their mp3 player or phone are.

3. Why do so many people use graphics as the basis for almost every argument about which game is the best around here? I never see anyone bring up fun factor, multiplayer component, story, etc. It's all about which game is the most photo-realistic. I personally prefer cartoonish graphics and come next gen, am hoping more to be able to play games with Pixar level animation as opposed to live action quality realism.

4. Why did MS release Kinect as an add-on this gen instead of saving it for next gen and launching their next console with Kinect built right in? Unless they are planning on not releasing another console until at least late 2013 it seems kinda late for it now...and it would have been such an amazing selling feature on a new console. Would it have made the launch price way too high like PS3? Even if they had waited another year or 2 to launch hit after their Kinect technology prices had come down significantly?

5. I totally hate the idea of hand helds! I've never even played one. I'm addicted to having huge screens to play on. The bigger the better! what's the allure of hand helds? Convince me that I'm missing out, because sometimes i feel like I might be, but have been unwilling to give them a shot still =(

That's all for now! Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any input!

1. Mario Kart Wii is the best Wii game ever.

2. I've never observed that.

3. Regardless of what people say, graphics are super important. Art style as well.

4. I'm wondering the same thing.

5. You aren't missing anything.

My take.

Sssssitt... Never talk about Mario Kart Wii when Rolstoppable is around... I believe he has trashed everyone.. everyone..
We just don't want to give him a chance to talk about that...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

1. There is no reason to compare most any other game to a huge game like Mario Kart because the game would be slaughtered by Mario Kart Wii. Where as Halo vs Call Of Duty is much more reasonable.

2. I don't know, maybe since Sony has been around for so long with products, the people have always bought Sony products and they were never let down so they continued to buy Sony products?

3. This generation has been mostly about graphics because of HD I guess. Graphics aren't a big issue with me though.

4. Because they probably believe motion gaming is something the Wii has used to take away a lot of purchases from them so they decided if they added motion gaming to their repertoire, then it would give them more sales.

5. Hand Helds are portable, you can't carry a Wii/360/PS3 on a car ride to play or just a casual few minutes while you are waiting for your class to start etc. I mean if you are in a position where you are away from home a lot of out of the day then why not invest in a hand held to help pass the time much faster. I have been blessed with having a hand held hundreds of times when I needed to hours to kill while waiting.

2. all fanboys are hardcore like that, i've seen a lot of Nintendo fans praising only stuff that has connection to Nintendo , and only talk about stuff that is related to it, while being oblivious to everything else, while on the other hand Microsoft fans buying only zunes and praising it as the only good phone ever made while praising every Microsoft tech and Windows release, but still without Fanboys of everyone , i wouldn't have heard of most of the niche stuff they talk about.

5. yes you are missing out a lot, how can you dismiss it if you haven't played any before?
