Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake Graphics Are Ridiculous

Isn't that second DLC coming out soon for Wake? Must rent it...

I also think Metro 2033 looks great on the 360. It also looks phenomenal on the PC with right hardware...

October 12th!

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I played through and beat Alan Wake (I did trade it in so I could get credits for Civ V for my computer).  I didn't find it scary, but I did find it to have awesome production value and quality.  It defnitely felt like a mini-series on TV, with a bunch of questions left unanswered regarding the game world, in a good way.  I did find it an interesting profile in the creation process of a writer.

I agree with the lighting affects and the story. They are both superb. I disagree with the controls and the charachter animations. Also, the flashlight thing to be able to shoot one of the "taken" gets old about half way through the game. I hope they make some changes if this game ever sees a sequel. Overall 8.5

I played it at a friends house and it is good for about 30 minutes because it gets repetitive too fast.

Also, my friend haven't finished it yet. I think that's the main problem with the game, that's why it had poor sales for such a hyped and high budget game.

Edit: Thread is only about graphics... "I haven't read the OP" award for me....

I say the flash light thing makes it feel unique from other shooters and adds suspense the worst part about the game is the driving sequences.

Alan Wake ranks high in my favorite games this gen.

I'm actually excited about the upcoming DLC. I just hope it actually wraps up the story.

^Totally agree.  When I first played Alan Wake, my GF and daughter were staying at her mother's house.  I got so scared that I had to turn the game off

*d21lewis loses 10 points of manliness* :(

I didn't get scared of the game!  I got scared that I was missing football.....err....that my beer supply was running low....umm. that my Ford Thunderbird's engine needed rebuilding!  Yeah. That's what it was.  I remember it perfectly!

Lol, don't be worried about losing a few man cards.  I've been subjected to every episode of Sex in the City due to my girlfriend, and I think I may have actually enjoyed a few of them.  Egads.

By the way, what would be your top ten list this gen?  I'm intrigued.

Off the top of my head and in no order:

  • Valkyria Chronicles
  • Gears of War 2
  • Uncharted 2: Among Theives
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
  • Super Street Fighter 4
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
  • Halo 3
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum

Well what do you know!  No Alan Wake!!  It's probably in the next 10, though......

  • Mario Kart Wii
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Alan Wake (ahh, there it is!)
  • Lost Odyssey
  • Bayonetta
  • Assassins Creed 2
  • Heavy Rain
  • Fable 2
  • Shadow Complex
  • Braid

Also in no particular order, btw.

Alan Wake was great, so was Metro 2033. I just wished both could have been kept under development for a bit longer. Alan Wake had the potential to be amazing, but it has a few serious issues that hold it back. Metro 2033 is the most underrated game of the year, it looked great, played great and the only issue I had with the game was that the AI gets really stupid sometimes. Both had the potential to reach Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2 levels of greatness, but that's what sequels are for anyway.

Splinter Cell: Conviction was the best in the whole series (I didn't like the others), it was just too short and I don't play multi-player on the 360.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
