I beleive that this is the same kind of thread that has been run for the last 3 years and will be run again at the same time next year. I beleive the Wii has been, and will be, one step ahead of the HD twins for the entirety of its life cycle.
Err, I realize this topic was made back in October, but I think it should be pretty obvious as this point that not only will PS3 not be in first for 2011, but will probably be in 3rd. 360 will have the continued strength of Kinect and the dominance of the US market, which is more than offsets the PS3 advantage in Japan. And Wii will continue to sell on the strength of its evergreen titles and Donkey Kong Country, as well as the NSMB bundle. Zelda will also boost its sales during the slow months.
PS3 has a nice looking lineup for next year, but most of those titles are not going to move significant hardware, if even GT5 couldn't.

And you honestly believe that Nintendo doesn't have more games in store for Wii in 2011 that haven't been announced yet? It's not like Nintendo is just going to ride out the entire 2011 without any new Wii games..

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.
Yup I can already feel it, 2009 all over again with all the "360 has momentum from 2008 all the way to 2009 ps3 is 3rd" and ps3 next year having similar stellar line up like in 2009 compared to what 360 have then a surprise price cut at end of the year.

PS3 will be over wii/360 this year 2007/2008/2009/2010/ and now 2011... You have to admire their dedication--- ;)

Now, no I dont think it will happen, wii has DQX & Zelda (so far) as huge 2011 titles, it will be really close to the 360, but number 1, no I doubt it...
If we count all the consoles, are you saying ps3 will be over DS & 3DS?, That would be very bold...

it outsold the 360 2009 and ppl said "teh slim iz too late! ps3 3rd".
I agree about not being no1 its always DS on top.....

The PS3 has Japan in front of the 360 as well as the EMEAA region, it was ahead in EMEAA even on Kinect launch week without any significant releases or deals. So its rather that the 360's Americas advantage won't offset the PS3's advantage globally. As for the Wii; I believe the decline will continue and it will drop another few million, landing in the range that the HD consoles are set to do this year. Whatever Sony does to gain sales, one can rest assured that Nintendo and MS will answer quickly so any extra momentum might be short lived. All in all, I do think the PS3 will outsell the 360 though, the 360 is priced lower, has also had its revision and is one year further along in it's lifecycle.
Will the PS3 beat the Wii? That's the real question imo. I find it unlikely to be honest but its far from impossible.
