And yes there were a few people that said Halo had peaked with 3... usually pointing to ODST and Wars as "proof" |
did i say it wasnt impressive?
Being in 3rd place never felt so good

zzz....expected...zzz
zzz...great sales nonetheless...zzz...go halo!!!...zzz
| kowenicki said: it is actually tracking between 5% and 6% up... Halo 3 hit 5m in week 4. carry on. |
If the game continues its 6% increase over Halo 3... it'll be somewhere around 6,261,000 at week 10 (Halo 3 was at 5,906,000). I have its 10 week number at 6,850,000 on Machina's thread, so hopefully it'll start showing awesome(r) legs.
Interestingly enough, week 11 was when Halo 3 saw its Holiday boost (going from 163,000 week 10 to 207,000 week 11). Still, Reach was released a week before 3 was, so I think it'll get its holiday boost at week 12 or 13. We'll see soon enough.
Microsoft planned the game's release very well. Release the game in September to huge sales, and right when it reaches the point where its supposed to dip, it sees a holiday boost instead. Will be fun to see its end of year sales.
| kowenicki said: I dont think that is right... its selling about 5% more each week... there is a cumulative effect. I may have that wrong, I will check. |
Could be. I did think that that total seemed too low for how Reach is doing thus far.
I think that it's heavily overtracked. MS reported $200 million first day for USA and Europe, which isn't much, considering the actual values of euros and pounds.

Considering that sequels on the same console tend to be more frontloaded as userbase has grown a lot I can't really see how these sales so far prove that Halo didn't peak with Halo 3. If it's still ahead of Halo 3 year from now then we can start to speak that the series has grown.

5-10%, about 300,000 first week.
Moreover Halo 3 limited and legendary edition were cheaper (10-15% cheaper).

What do you think the reg/limited/legendary split was then?
REACH will do well, and i'm happy its doing so well, but watching it being played online i've notest some people don't know wht there doing! some if not most of the gamers i've seen playing REACH online suck!
I know its nobody from this site but god awful shooting and they just stand there its sad really! its not as bad as COD?
