I recently got into minecraft, decided to check out the server you guys have.  I spawned near all you guys, silver tiger's tree farm, joe's obsidian fortress, etc.  You guys have a nice setup, but I must say the cache someone kindly set up for beginners should have some coal.  Or hell, just cut out the middle man and put torches in there.  You guys have probably pretty much mined out the area and I died three or four times just trying to get to an area I could get my own resources from.  If I'd had torches I could easily have dug out little bunkers and just waited out the night. 

I managed to find a small abandoned mine with eight coal or so left, took about 5 and I was good to go.  Right now I'm set up in a small but tall mountain with a waterfall near the top as a starter base.  It's somewhere in the vicinity of a day's journey from Joe's palace. 

Do you need to be near someone for chat to work?  I said hello but no response.  At least the monsters are talking to me...


if you want you should be able to spawn items with heyos mod... /item (item number) (amount)

.... also sorry about the deaths if you want to skip night  /time day

used to be you could not die on the server...

have you had a chance to check out the subway system its not done yet, and the carts are buggy, but its a safe way to travel.... eventually it will connect everything

just a general note, i may be slow to reply for the next week or so ill try and check here daily but work will be taking up most of my time, around 60 hours or so

you can currently get to it by going to bens, joes or my place...

 

joes and mine are the easist, as its in the basement of both towers ... should be  a few mine carts on the tracks

 

there were warps to them... but the warp list got wiped out about a month ago... ill work opn fixing that this weekend

I decided to go to you guys and try out that subway network (and put some stuff in the cache I wish was there when I started). 

However, I seem to have gotten myself a bit lost.  And I am going for humorous understatement there, because I am so lost I am seriously considering digging for redstone to make a compass with instead of trying to get my bearings manually.

OK, it was a very nerve wracking marathon but I managed to relocate my home base.  I will try to find you guys later.  Also, I found a crapload of clay.  I heard somewhere that it was really rare but in actuality I think there's a two step process to finding large amounts:  (1) find a desert biome by the sea; (2) make a boat and sail along the coastline.  I found a modest deposit, then a large deposit, then a HUGE deposit but by then I already had like 200 clay so I didn't really feel the need to fill my entire inventory with it. 

I did spot a large natural depression at one point and tried digging a test tunnel down to see if I hit redstone; all I got was a little iron and a lot of coal and then bedrock.

Here's a side note that interested me:  Apparently my trek allowed the trees atop my base to grow to a TREMENDOUS size.  15 wood each!
