Forums - Sony - My conversation about move at gamestop

I can't stand Gamestops customer service.  When Halo Reach came out, I went in to pick up my preorder and the lady at the front of the line was mentioning that they we're thinking of buying the Halo Reach console bundle so that she could play Halo with her son, to which the employee flatly told her "buy a ps3 instead, you can watch bluray movies and games like Killzone and Resistance are just as good, if not better, than Halo Reach will ever be."  Needless to say, she wasn't sold on his fanboyism and simply walked off.

I can understand having opinions on which console is your console of choice, and which games you might view to be better than another, but when a person is clearly thinking about dropping $399.99 on a product in your store, do not let your fanboyism come inbetween you and a sale!  I am quite positive that anyone who is considering getting a console, let alone a premium version of one, has done enough research that they are more looking for someone to agree with the high dollar purchase, not tell them they are wrong and shouldn't make one.

I guess really, I just think that Gamestop is great if you know exactly what you want and do not want to talk to anyone their about games, otherwise it's pure crap. /rant

I saw a gamestop employee actively disuading someone from buying a move, telling them to wait for kinect instead. They got the move since that what they wanted, but I was amazed at how unprofessional the employee was.

So you're upset someone has an opinion?  OMG!

Look, I get that they're supposed to be impartial and I completely agree Gamestop is worthless (and I'm wondering why you're bothering shopping there) but you can't really expect a minimum wage employee to be absolutely impartial.

They're going to have opinions and it's nothing to really freak out and run to the interwebs over.

wtf are you talking about? I'm not upset I just find it bad customer service to give an opinion that  customer is asking about when you haven't used it.

And like I said, it's not really reasonable to expect them to not be impartial.  If they were actually a paid professional, yes, I would totally agree with you and flip out but they're just a retail employee making minimum wage or just over it.  They don't really have a reason to be impartial and it's not surprising in the least they aren't.

Also, all of us here make opinions on games and accessories every day without playing or using them.  That's just life.

This. I find it sad that so few of you realize I was pointing out bad customer service...I have no idea where sales came up.

Im not american so I dont have bad experience on gamestop.

But I did travel to the US once and I bought my PS3 on a Gamestop.

I wanted to buy some games too and I found amazing how on both Gamestops I went they kept offering pre-owned games.

Like all the stuff I asked or mentioned they would point to a cheaper pre-owned version.

PS - It did work though. I bought 2 pre-owned games for 10 bucks less each. And they looked brand new.

So no complaints for me.

PS2 - I wish I could live in a country where I had Gamestops everywhere.

You americans are complaining with your belly full.

When you get a job you are paid to do it, you are expected to perform at te best of your ability and you have no idea how much he gets paid. There is nothing to get over, I bought my game and rolled out  just thought I would share my experience with you guys. In my post I said I was there because I was already in the mall and didn't feel like driving to best buy.

Onr more time-- we would all hope they would do that but, again, they are minimum wage retail employees.  That is not a career and beyond the first week I really doubt they actually care about the job.  Hell, I assume most of them are seasonal which means they care evel less than your typical full time Gamestop employee.

I absolutely agree with you they should be impartial and play everything but you're just crazy if you actually expect that from them.  This is true for most any job that requires no more than an afternoon's training.
