So what does MS have planned for their hardcore userbase for Jan-September? If I only had an XBox I would find this worrisome, especially after MS stated that the reason for this had nothing to do with polishing up or anything, with the only reason being that they want it to be their marquee title next holiday season. The game is ready for a spring release, but instead of giving it to you guys they instead choose to hold it back.

I don't know about all of you, but that tells me that if they didn't delay it you probably wouldn't have had any big exclusive for next holiday season.

Anyone else noticing this?

Microsoft needs to get themselves some more studios.

Their focus has shifted a bit. They're really pushing Kinect and they may REALLY do that between Nov 2010 and the Fall of next year, to really get the message across. They probably have Forza 4 (or PRG5), Gears 3, and maybe Crytek's exclusive for their core fans, and leave the Jan - Sept months to let mutliplats and Kinect do the talking against Sony & Nintendo.

I don't think that crytek game will be ready until 2012 at least. Ain't Crytek still working on Crysis 2. They probabley only have a team of 10 working on the 360 exclusive. Also if Sonys main focus was on move next year only and all the PS3 was getting was multiplat then I'd be a very pissed off PS3 owner. Miscrosofts handing over sales to the PS3 with that delay

We are talking about 5 1/2 years into this console generation. If you truly think any of these upcoming exclusives are going to be console sellers and for that matter make the PS3 outsell the 360 you are mistaken. After GT5 PS3 has no more big console sellers. LBP2, KZ3, Infamous 2, etc are not going to sell consoles. Its all about price now.

Working together though, they keep the PS3 healthy. It doesn't need a ton of sellers like GT5 anymore, it just needs enough software to keep it up YoY. The 360's exclusive core line-up is lacking for early-mid 2011, so I'm guessing they're really depending on Kinect to keep it healthy by going after a different market. It's a gamble at this point, one that the holidays will give some insight into understanding where it's headed.

Exactly and he's not getting this point. He doesn't realize that all of Sony's first, second and third party exclusives make up the value of the system as a whole. They don't need one or two huge sellers like Microsoft, because that can very easily be equalized in the sales of all of the games. This generation has been all about exclusives and nothing has changed. Microsoft is down to Gears as the final great game for 2011.

That you know of, seriously, given MS's history of announcing exclusives late it's absurd to be talking about exclusives this early on.

I love it when people play the "Sony doesn't need one or two huge sellers like Microsoft does." Everytime it gets used, it sounds like jealousy at Microsoft's sales or an excuse for why Sony's games don't sell that much individually. What you don't get is that the Xbox did not have the same third party support the 360 did. So yeah, 3rd party games do matter, and you acting like the third parties have always acted like they have this generation is quite laughable at best. The 360 will be fine, as this is the standard "OMG THE 360 HAS NO GAMES!!1ONE!!!" crap we hear before every year.

If we get real technical, Sony and Microsoft have the same amount of games that sell at a certain number - 1: Halo & Gran Tursimo. Gears is Epic's and MGS is Konami's - if we went that route.

On the other hand, much of what you say makes sense.

Crash Bandicoot on PS1 is a better example than MGS (unless you're talking about this gen).

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

As someone who owned the original Xbox, I can say that just about every game I bought for it was an exclusive first or third party title. The third party support in terms of multiplats was almost nonexistant besides titles you'd expect (sports games, film franchises). This is one reason I've bought a boatload more games for the 360 than I ever did for the Xbox. This and Wii sales right now tell us that we should never take third party support for granted.

Uncharted 3 Vs. Gears of War 3 then?

Will be fun to see which game is better and which sells more

It's kind of obvious at tis point that Gears 3 will outsell Uncharted 3.

At the end of the day no matter what consol you own we are still gamers who play games. Granted theres still multiplats coming for the Xbox 360 but is it enough to keep people away from the PS3. I know if PS3 only had multiplats coming out until september of next year and the 360 had around 6 exclusives then I know where my money would go to and by the way only 3 of next years multiplats have my attention and they don't have a solid release date, they could be delayed until fall 2011 aswel.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Moving gears to holiday release is a good plan since holidays releases usually generates much better sales, also the reason why im ticked off by LBP2 being deleyed to after holiday this year....=.=

WHAT!?

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Microsoft will have Kingdoms , Forza 4 and Gears 3 for holidays... Those 3 will pretty much destroy everything Sony has for Ps3 in sales and quality so im not concerned at all... For the first 9 months i have Dead Space 2 and Black Ops Reach for Online gameplay.
