Iv'e played about 20 hours so far. I found a use for most classes. The only class iv'e found useless so far is the gunner class. I might be using it wrong but hardly any of the bullets seem to hit the enemy.

You are right. I've upgraded Eric to gunner and that was NOT a good decision lol. Apparently gunners are only good when there are more than 2 or even 3 opponents in the line of fire, preferably scouts or shocktroopers, otherwise it's a very poor performing class...

You are so wrong gunners are awesome.

It's all about making hit angle as wide as possible which means you need to be very close (the bigger part of screen opponent fills the better).

But gunner at point blank range will kill most opponents hidden behing sandbags in single order while they stormtrooper can strugle against classes.

Just remember to not use standard gun but build special weapon for them - there's a variant which makes 60 shots instead of 50.

Also gunner has much much better interception fire against enemies and if you use him as support fire (shooting with other character while gunner is nearby) then all 60 shots will be directed against single target which makes the great against aces or fencers/maulers.

edit: also while techs are far from amazing upgrade fencer class is great for removing oponents in cover with single order without using grenades (as grenades can't kill harder classes you often need second order).

Ah I see. Thanks I thought that I was probably using them the wrong way.

On another point, I like using techs for bait in escorts missions because there defence is high

Gunners are very good for base defense, point defense, backup fire, and spread damage since they hit very hard, I always have 1 and only 1 in a mission but it makes a big difference. VC2 is pretty much all about Shocktroopers, your one tank, and 1 engi for about 97% of the game play, which is retarded compared to the original where I used all classes for all sorts of different things and tactics. Scouts are almost stupid useless in the game unless you are recovering downed allies which is wtf. Also don't see anybody as bad ass as Rosie(so good, so hot, so red head and ginger yum) or Jane(Sadist and Imp Hater rape lol) in 2.

Since we are more or less on the topic here, what do you all think about snipers? Do you put them into battle at all?

I finished the game in 65 hours and haven't even started the post-game content (there's alot of it!). Had to start KH: BBS asap. I agree the game just doesn't reach the epicness that the first game made, but it's understandable since this is a portable game. I also hated the credit system for being so random, it took me ages to grind certificates or diplomas for the characters I wanted.

Btw Fencers aren't that useless, they're really good at defending camps, since they have so big defense, so pretty much only lancers, tanks, mortarers or other techs dare to attack them. More reliable than gunners in many situations.

I usually take out all tanks within the first 2 turns and my mobile Shock Trooper classes go out and kill all Lancer Classes within that 2 or 3 turns while using my tank as bait so I just put a Gunner at really unfair spots and move it from base to base as I see fit, everything that tried to get close besides a tank would simply die, not that enemy tanks ever get a chance to shoot more than 1 round when I play, enemy Fencers included in instant deaths while in cross fire because I position my Troopers like a real bitch. Shock Troopers are simply too good in the game. Scouts are nowhere as good as they were in VC1, and I have no idea why I have to play a Scout just so I can get Sniper which is an actual useful class, why torture me with bull shit? This game is way too easy vs the first one because of these dumb OP ass Shock Trooper rapes 90% of the stuff mechanics, we play SRPG because we want that shit hard, I enjoy banging my head against the wall when I play the hardest mode in Fire Emblem games man!

I just hope the 3rd one will be more like the first and not a "more must be better right?" thing since I'm most likely getting that one too.

hell yeah I do, because the maps are so small by area, you can call one out whenever and take out 3 guys easily and have engi give the sniper more ammo if required, they are pretty much god in these small fields 1-2 shotting stuff and even damage tanks if you go in that tree with one of them. The problem is of course the mobility, but it's not like you can't just retreat them whenever.

..or hospitalize them whenever... the HP of snipers is a joke.  Leaving them to open fire or trying to sneak past bunkers is a bloody challenge bound to fail. And maybe you know how come they have so few AP? I mean it doesn't take THAT much effort to carry a sniper rifle does it? :D

I retreat/standby them before my turns are over so it's not an issue, I know how squishy they are since they are glass canons.

Hmm speaking about useless classes what do you think about engineers ?

There's so many of them in the class but you hardly ever need more than one on the battlefield. Hell most often i just deploy them as a poor man scout to go kill some sniper/scout that got close to one of camps and standby in the same order just to get that character used to advance them to character mission.

And is anthem corps ability worth using ?

I find Engineers very useful in snowy conditions and escort missions. I don't use them that much apart from that though.
