RRoD doesn't nothing to change the number of consoles sold.  a console sold is a console sold regardless of the reason. 

what you are trying to get at is what is the 360's "active" userbase and frankly (as i know you are a wii fan) that's a questions you probably don't want to start asking as the wii's software sales is the weakest of the trio as an attach rate meaning the wii has the highest "inactive" userbase.

One of the constant of this forum is that anytime the 360 has upwards sales momentum it inevitably gets flooded by garbage threads attempting to undermine the numbers.

Still happens, of course, because the moderators are doing a very poor job.

The best thing you can do is what many of us already did: find a cozy videogame forum with real moderators and don't come back for anything but the front page numbers.

I think the question has all been answered here, but i would like to point one thing out.  The 42% failure rate reported in the original OP is misleading.  It's an online poll that was conducted by a website that reviews video games, but has no connection with microsoft or any companies that would track console repairs.  It'd be the same as someone making a poll here that asks if you ever needed it fixed.  It holds absolutly no relevance.
