Dead Rising 2 PS3 Exhibits PS3 Port Syndrome

The PS3 version of Capcom’s zombie massacre game Dead Rising 2 is being criticised for exhibiting major graphical issues on the PS3, whilst the Xbox 360 version is unaffected.

The issue, one of screen tearing, is EVERYWHERE. But frame rate persists at about 30fps even when a map is full of zombies. Which is quite impressive to watch.

On the flip side, going through the map with such horrendous screen tearing is really bad for your health. My eyes got VERY sore after half an hour playthrough.

There is some suspicion that this is the result of a patchable bug rather than a slipshod port, but whatever the case the PS3 seems to deserve its reputation for getting the short end of the stick in any multi-platform release.

anyway, OT: I'd wish they'd patch these damn things BEFORE they hit the shelves.

can anyone with the PS3 version confirm this?

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

why do you and other people use sankaku complex? >_> thats a NSFW site, that trolls things a lot.

It could be true... I don't really feal like reading the article, because of the NSFW things.

"On the one hand it is very difficult to avoid criticising the developer for not giving the PS3 version of Dead Rising 2 the same sort of love that the 360 game clearly received. Clearly and measurably we have a conversion with a big resolution hit and mildly toned down visuals that still can't match the Xbox 360 game in terms of basic performance. It's not often that we see a PS3 version so technically behind these days, but Dead Rising 2 is something of an unfortunate exception."

Well, Dead Rising is synonamous with the 360 so I guess it was to be expected.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

IGN had a post stating that the PS3 version was graphically better than the 360

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Assuming the details are true (although our sites don't seem to agree) then clearly Capcom took the cheap route of simply porting a 360 optimized code base (something everyone knows these days is a bad idea) to the PS3 then trying to get it working as best as possible on the PS3 architecture.

If true a sad state of affairs and one that would reflect badly on Capcom for me as a sign they are willing to compromise of quality and effort to get a title out.

I'll wait and see for further developments.  This was a wait for price drop title for me anyway so waiting will be easy.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

There's a lot of screen tearing, but I don't really tend to notice it when I'm killing hundreds of zombies in the most absurd ways. This game rules, even for a shitty port.

The issue is about screen tearing, not the graphics itself I guess.

I have the game, and I've noticed some frame rate drops hear and there, but it's not that big of a deal. People make to big of a deal out of graphical comparisons.
