There are a lot of religious people out there who are ignorant of their own faiths for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with being lazy or having that approach I mentioned above.  So it would be wrong to make such affirmation about them.

Reasons such as?

The most obvious example is lack of education. There are philosophical and theological arguments to discuss when dealing with religions.

Someone who has no education wont be able to comprehend most of it.

But that doesnt mean they have no faith or dont care about their religion.

So you need higher education to know who Martin Luther was, or who Moses was? And I suppose knowing the Ten Commandments also requires a college degree right? You know, this was what this study was about, not some deep philosophical issues.

First of all most of the people in your country should be Catholic, hence Martin Luther not being an important figure in Catholicism.

Second, religious education (which is the type of education one needs in order to know their own religion) shouldn't be done in elementary schools, but in private.

Thirdly, I beleive a nuclear bomb will wipe you out (worked in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis).

OMG! They wont know who Saint Augustin or Sain Thomas Aquinus is. That is my point.

Also I meant elementary school as in school doesnt just give you knowledge. It also teaches you to think, its like "learn to learn. And do you think a lot of people can afford private schools. So you are making my point for me.

Sorry, can't help but laugh at someone who thinks those movies are crappy, but has The Naked Gun as one of his favorite films. I presume you've already eaten your own brain?

As for the education thing, you are right about school teaching you how to think, BUT, I think anyone can remember trivia like who Moses was.

Anyways, I'm protestant. 
Although, all of the things I learned for Buddhism/Taoism/Hinduism/Islam etc. come from Public school, otherwise I would only guess the Christian and Jewish questions.
