unreal tournament 3 and dont know if anyone mentioned it but ninja gaiden sigma is aso pretty cool :)

Bod you may want to consider getting Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 for the PS2. They are great games. Again, Okami is also a lot of fun with quirky humor, beautiful art, and great puzzle solving gameplay.

Okay Leo, if you MUST make me shatter you dreams -- my girlfriend has Kingdom Hearts 1 (at her parent's house -- the PS2 isn't hers). I tried it, and absolutely loathed it. Seriously, from my perspective, it's one of the worst games I've ever played, and there is no chance I want it, at all. It represents precisely the sort of game I dislike.

I think you just need to give up on me liking the games you like, Leo. It's absolutely fine if you disagree with me -- really, like what you want -- but I think you're thinking here: "If he just tried it, he'd like what I like!" but I don't, and I won't. I honestly, genuinely, seriously and strongly dislike that style of game. Just let it go, and work with me here. Let's celebrate, I have a PS3 now, we aren't "enemies!" :p

Die a very slow, painful death for blasphemizing Kingdom Hearts.

Well I can see why you hate it, it is a Story Driven Hack n' Slash with RPG elements.

KH1 was not a hack and slash the 2nd one was a hack and slash type of game.

On topic: Get dragonbalz budokai tenkaichi 3.

As good as Okami is, I think the first 15 minutes of the game will be enough for Bod to drop the game without even having played it for a minute (because the intro is that long).

Yes, the intro is long, but once you get passed it there is never anything like that in the game again.  I think 15 minutes of intro is worth it for the great game that follows. I'm sure Bod isn't so judgemental as to not give a game a chance after 15 minutes.

leo-j, I would be very surprised if he likes anime fighting games, and if he does why the hell would he get the PS2 version over the Wii version when the Wii version has exclusive online multiplayer?

Oh really? I remember another very long blablabla sequence around the middle of the game. When you could assume that you have beaten the game.

Yeah, I suppose I forgot about that, but those sequences are not comon to the game.  The game is not cinematic and full of cutscenes.  Just a couple long ones.  They really aren't enough to offset the value of the rest of the game though.

Oh, and if you do play backwards compatible games, you may want to consider picking up Animal Crossing, Pikmin 2, Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 (Gamecube version runs better, PS2 version has frame rate drops), and Donkey Konga (with bongos) for Gamecube.  Also if you like extremely competitive and/or challenging games Battalion Wars 2 and Mario Strikers Charged are both very competitive online.  Back for PS3, Hot Shots Golf sounds like it could be right up your alley.

i dont think its released yet outside of japan

I know that you said that you won't be posting here again, Bod, but I hope that you, at the least, read this post.

You say that you've got the 360 aswell. I'd seriously reccommend you that you pick up VF5 for that as it has online play.

For your ps3 I would NOT reccommend getting Resistance. The online is OK, but you may find it getting a bit boring after 200 games (which, as you may know, isn't as many games as it sounds). Generally the campaign and co-op make up for this. But, as you've stated before you're not all for story and campaign games.

Call of Duty 4, on the other hand, I do reccommend. This games main focus is on the online play, and the campaign is short and sweet and full of action. Online is very addictive, and fragging peeps is very satisfying. This game is also great for just having one-on-ones with other people split-screen aswell.

When Motorstorm hits bargain bin, you should try that as well. The online and downloadable content make up for the crappy offline (not that this effects you anyways).

Other games to reccommend based on your tastes and what I've read through this thread:
Warhawk
Afrika
Home
Super 'Rub a Dub (just get the the free version to try it out)
Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection (get the online mode, as well)
Hot Shots Golf 5
Nucleus
Super Stardust HD
Fl0w
Crash Team Racing (ps1 game avliable from the PSN)

Also, check out the Burnout games, they've always been great for multiplayer mayhem.

I don't play games alot online, but I do make for good conversation and I will be on Home alot (when it's out), if you so choose to add me.
