To explain what I do like:

1) Extremely competitive games
2) Casual games

If I had to make two categories, that would be it.

warhawk? why did you even buy a ps3? all its best upcoming games are the opposite of what you like :S

Ugh, can we just stop please? I'm not trying to create conflict here. First, I got the PS3 for about 200 dollars. But there IS stuff I think looks good: I really like hte look of Little Big Planet, I like the look of Home (a lot), I really like the gameplay in MGS, so if the story isn't horribly intrusive, I'll try that. I like the sound of pixel junk monsters. I want to try Flower. And perhaps most importantly, I get a Blu Ray player to boot.

There's lots of stuff that might be palatable for me. I know the system isn't right up my alley, and probably won't become my most-played system, but neither is the Wii, and I talk about that all the time here. If some God-of-War loving PS3 owner bought a Wii, people would be celebrating regardless of what types of games they liked; can we just do the same? Please?

Then buy god of war 2.

Okay, now you're just doing it on purpose, aren't you? :p

Well its impossible.

Oh, another game I'm looking forward to: Civilization Revolutions on the PS3. Sid Meier has confirmed it's the lead SKU between PS3/360, and I can use a mouse/keyboard with it, so definitely picking that up.

I've named about 10-15 games I want to buy now and in the future -- that's a ton, in my opinion, given that the attach rate of the PS2 was less than 10 at the end of its entire LIFESPAN, on average. Why are people picking on my taste, or my choice to buy it? Can't we just... talk about games I might like?

Does anyone here have VF5, for example?

So what DO you like most? PC?

Absolutely -- I've said that a million times on this board :p

I play WoW heavily, and have played Team Fortress, Unreal Tournament, and Starcraft very competitively. I also play lots of simple stuff like Desktop Defense, Sim Tower (Yoot Saibot! Hurray!), and online games such as Word Racer or Chess (lots of Chess). I play games like Sims 2, Sim City 4, and Command and Conquer, as well.

have you got the orange box?

I say go for warhawk. You have a 360 so get Virtua Fighter for that cause it is the definitive version. As far as I know most multiplatform games have been better thus far on the 360(do your research on individual games cause some games are better on PS3). Maybe you will want to get a gamefly account instead of buying anything cause of your recent acquisition of a 360 and PS3.

So my official vote goes to a gamefly account.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Ugh, this thread is a mess. I'm just going to list the games here, one more time, that I'm interested in, and then hope that people can stay on a positive wavelength.

Out now:

Virtua Fighter 5
Fl0w
Warhawk
Eye of Judgement (maybe)
Super Stardust HD
Everyday Shooter
Rock Band
Ratchet and Clank (maybe)

Coming Soon:

Flower
Metal Gear Solid 4 (maybe, depends if it's light on story/story is unobtrusive)
Little Big Planet
PixelJunk Monsters
Home
Civilization Revolutions

Also: Blu Ray movies!

I'm quite satisfied with that list. Thanks to those who actually helped!

Portal is my GotY, actually. Day 1 purchase, my most anticipated game this year.

your welcome :P EDIT: also the MGS series is very heavy on story and cutscenes. some of the cutscenes can last up to 20 minutes and they're quite frequent. i don't think you'd like it.

Oh I've played MGS 1/2, and I know the drawbacks.

Still, the gameplay is so amazing, with so many interesting twists -- I still think "wow" when I think back to when I had to put the controller in the second player slot to beat Psycho Mantis.

No game is going to be the absolute bestest for me, save Chess (Battle Chess may be my favorite game ever). Most of the really competitive games have a ton of violence, which I don't like; most of the casual ones aren't very competitive. It's always strengths and weaknesses.

So it's quite possible that the inventive gameplay in Metal Gear Solid, along with the stealth mechanics (which I also think are fun) outweigh the story. If I can just ignore the story, I'll be more than happy enough, because Kojima produces some killer gameplay :)
