So along with all the bundles, in the consoles 6th xmas, established franchises and back library not to mention being able to count single Kinect units sold to the userbase, its going to act like its the same as all supply constrained launch platforms that lack software and generally launch when the previous generation is still strong and pulling sales..

Kinect will be big, but MS is a bit too confident IMO. I just don't see that casuals will mainly buy the Kinect bundle instead of a much cheaper Wii. But furthermore, I wouldn't really compare Kinect with consoles.

Anyway, everytime I read statements by MS about Kinect it seems to me like they consider it as a new platform, or better, as a new system and not as a peripheral. On the one hand I think it's weird, on the other hand it's probably a good marketing strategy.

So why haven't launch consoles sold as much as they could?  Supply issues.  Its the bane of every launch this gen (PS3 couldn't even launch in Europe the same year because of it) and prevented them from selling much more units at launch (which actually would've been bad for MS and Sony because they were selling consoles at a loss at the time, but I digress).

So how does MS know that this will be bigger?  Because it will have PLENTY of supply to meet the demand.  It's not arrogance.  It's simply numbers.

But it won't outsell Motion Plus!

How can you compare a periphal with consoles? You can juge the success of Kinect by the HW boost or the software it moves...not really by its first week. Anyway it looks like it won't reach that mark judging by preorders in the US.

really i cant see millions of Xbox fans buying the kinect since xbox isn't really a kid console and all the kids that play it only want to play hardcore voilent games and wont swap halo or COD for Kinecamals any time soon. 

thats the same with the older people, since when are they really going to get their entire family to play the kinect with them. The Wife wont know how to use it, the daughter will think its lame and the Son will be like put on Call of Duty or Halo. 

Also i wouldn't fork out 150 dollars so my 3-7 year old can play with it.
