the wii is in serious decline and comparing the wii to the 360 in japan like oranges to apples but microsoft has improved vastly over xbox 1 over in the rising sun 3 xs fold then xbox 1 and this will help next gen for them and besides for me i wish the wii wasnt leader of this generation because their wouldnt be kinect or move from microsoft or sony and monster hunter 3 and the few third party titles that the wii has would of had sold much better on the hd twins

Xbox 360 is a vast improvement over Xbox 1, but Wii is an even larger improvement on GameCube.  Both Nintendo and Microsoft are way up in Japan this gen, while Sony's down massively.

Go wii !!!!

Yes, it seems.

Wii is doing excelent. There's 10mill Wii at japane's homes and now continues selling so good, over 1mill and is up YoY on Japan. (2009 vs 2010)

Wii is selling extremely bad if we compare with 2008 and 2009? Of course. Its like ps3, now is selling extremely bad if we compare with the slim launch last year and see the YoY drop. And Wii without a redesign. =/

You have to factor in how it's the console leader and it's selling on par with the last place console this gen and is being beat by 2nd place. Something unprecedented. Claims Wii is selling bad arn't unfounded ...

Yes, because the Wii is doomed like every year and this is the ps3 year like the past 4 years...=/

Like I said before, when ps3/xbox360 sold over 73mill in 4 years without a redesign, and only one price cut, breaks the record for the fastest selling console and the record for more consoles in one month, and sell more than what wii is selling now, then and only then we can say Wii is doing bad.

Claims Wii is selling bad, and not count these factors... =/

The market leader should be able to combat those efforts easily, ala PS2. If Xbox or gamecube got redesigned it still would have got 60% plus of the market. It's no excuse using excuses! Market leader being last is BAD.

Did you honestly expect the Wii to sell strongly this year despite next to no third party support and no hardware movers for the first 9 months?

Just remember that 360 and even PS3 sales were beginning to decline and would be selling poorly as well if not for the redesigns.

People on this site tend to only judge success in terms of relative to competitors, and on a week to week basis, but if you take a step back and look at the grand scheme of things, Wii has outsold Nintendo's previous best selling console, the NES, on it's way to outsell the PS1, and is still tracking ahead of PS2, despite only one $50 price drop, no redesign, and barely any third party support.

Tell me, why is it so BAD for the market leader to be in last by a few hundred thousand for a couple of months, when it is 30 million ahead of its nearest competitor? It's not like third party support is going to decline, it's already about as bad as it can be. You are making a big deal out of nothing.

what saved the ps3 was mostly the fact it got a $100 price cut..

and it is still the only console not at mass market price..

so the same thing can be said for the ps3, did you really expect the ps3 to sell strongly when the wii is $199 and bundled with wii sports resort, and wii motion plus, and has a new color, AND is $199, and the 360 is $199 with a new redesigned unite and a huge advertising campaign making people think it's possibly a new console..

heck its possible that the reason the ps3 is having so much trouble against the 360 in the UK, is because the ps3 is what twice the price of the 360?

Once the ps3 drops to $199 sometimes in 2011, or 2012, whenever they cut it, it should see much much higher sales.. especially in japan.

Japan's traditionally the least sensitive to pricing out of every region.  DS only just had it's first JP drop a few months back. Adjusted for inflation, PS3 launched at around just $100 more than PS2 in Japan too.... the value of currency doesn't remain unchanged, I'd say $299 is very much a "massmarket" price today.  I mean, look at how many units Wii moved at just $50 less?  Isn't that massmarket?

Sorry Rol, it was very humorous you are trying to make a valid fact's. The truth is Fact has no place on video game discussion forums. The only real value on VG Charts and especially others sites like IGN, Kotoku..... is opinion, lies and bias. Those have weight on these forums. Fact... sorry fact your just skin and bones while your brothers gorge on the ample supply of non fact.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Er no not quite, 360 (cheapest sku) is £150, 250G is £200, PS3 is £250
