Forums - Nintendo - Price hike Wii Germany - almost sold out

I think it's the stores trying to make more profit - the Metro stores (media Markt , Saturn) are known for being the most expensive stores for electronics , they only have some sales which are there to get custumers into the market

yes, i think it is solely saturn doing this, not nintendo. still, quite surprising to me. For being expensive, they sold RE4 in the beginning for full price, compared to other outlets who sold it cheaper.

Here in Portugal i have seen a similar situation with Re 4 Wii Edition and Big Brain Academy Wii. The first is still being sold at 49.90. The second some stores have it at 30 and others at 50.

If they think it`s going to sell at that (higher) price, there`s nothing we can do about it!

EBGames in Canada played a similar stunt. RE UC was released for 29.99$, after it started selling really well they jacked it up to 49.99$

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Prices should stay the same or go down, not up...

Is an RRP (recomended retail price) not an obligation then?

It's the retailers that choose the price. (In Europe, at least)

yeah, msrp or rrp depending where you are from is what the manufacturersuggests you sell it for. Most stores do or sell for less due to competition, however on hot demand products like the wii some stores get greedy. Just like how the wii zapper is $25 in most stores near me, but $20 at a few.

I think it's due to Christmas sales and Super Mario Galaxy. I'm glad I bought my Wii on time, incidentally from Germany even though I don't live there (amazon.de).

SMG itself is selling out in several European countries, the ones I know of are - UK, France, Germany, Sweden and Portugal... The Wii seems to be selling out at least in UK, France and Germany.
