Im in Canada and we're awesome so Yes

Eh... yes and no.

Actually in Canada Gay refugees find a hard time getting into canada on the basis they are gay because it's hard for them to prove they are gay.

Or at least I think that's still the case.

Yeah, still looks like the case.

australia dose accep refugees. if they can come by plane then you fine but when you come by boat you get sent to a detention center which are over crouded. so it is better to fly then risk your life for aslyum in australia

Under UN obligations, pretty much every country is required to accept refugees regardless of sexual orientation or, pretty much anything else.

Granted, even countries like North Korea are signatories to these agreements.

I think a large problem though is you have to prove you are a refugee.  Which often, being gay is hard to prove.

It's hard to prove in canada... recently there were court battles in the UK over accepting gay people because they could hide it and "reasonably" be safe.

I've yet to find any US kinks, but they probably exist as well.

In Canada you'll probubly get special treatment if you apply as a homosexual fleeing oppresion. But you have to be able to prove you are being oppressed. If you yourself are looking to migrate and are asking if you should be oppressed or to what degree then I take it that you aren't really being oppressed.

If you are not being oppressed then you have to join the massive waiting list to get into Canada legally. But other then that our country welcomes all refugees with open arms. However if you aren't actually being oppressed I myself personally think you should remain in your own country. Not because I dislike homosexuals but because Canada should be a safe haven for those who actually need to get out of their country.

Today it seems anyone with enough money can come into this country, personally I disagree with that methodology. I think we should only accept those who are being oppressed or need to come to Canada to survive. But thats my own opinion.

The UK accepts all refugees from anywhere, be they gay, straight, bisexual, or anything in between. Hell, they'll even give you benefits so you don't have to work. WARNING: Accept these benefits, and everyone will hate you.

I don't hate refugees who need benefits...don't know why anyone would...

I think its good that we accept these people and give them food and shelter, shows compassion for our fellow human beings.

They should be allowed into the country and given provision to work.

Not given free housing, free medical care, and free pretty much everything when these luxuries aren't extended to British citizens.

and if they are children? you gonna start child labour camps for refugees purely because they werent born here?

not to mention that you cant just say "oy refugee, fuck off and get a job", really isnt that simple, there arent that many jobs atm for a start...

and if you need them in the UK you can get housing benefit, the NHS is free to access for everyone...

And on that pleasant note, OP, feel free to move here. But please get a job when you do.

If it really happened , I'll serve the UK and be a productive member in response to their kindness. Sitting home wouldn't be appropriate at all

I want to read about that, I need lots of information and I don't know where to look.

questions like : list of countires that accept gay refugees? what kind of discrimination should be exhibited in my country that makes me a potential refugee? are there any educational or financial requirements from my part? what kind of tests I have to pass to be qualified as gay? and many other questions related to the situation.

I pretty appreciate the help in any form possible

Your country not only needs to have laws against homosexuality but you have to actually risk physical persecution and yet it still could be difficult to get asylum in Sweden based on those reasons. You'd also have to show strong evidence that you are in fact homosexual.

I don't know what kind of laws we have here against homos and as long as I am hiding my sexuality I am safe. The strong evidence part is kind of funny hehe, how am I supposed to prove that?

I think I get what you're asking about. If you're serious about this, it seems to me that Canada and the US are a good pick. One would have to contact the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and seek asylum, it's definitely possible and you wouldn't be the first to do it. Just to be clear, you're seeking asylum because you live in a place where it isn't exactly "safe" to be gay, correct?

As long as I hide my sexuality, I am safe but I need to communicate with my people and if we can't come out then how am I ever going to communicate? those dating websites are never enough and they are never safe. so yes I am seeking asykum because in case I come out to have a normal life I'd be in real danger.

I'd suggest contacting the UNHCR and going from there, they're sure to answer your questions. Though I must tell you that it is harder to go through with all this if you haven't actually faced persecution personally, and in the US case people actually have to physically be in the US to seek asylum, I read that here

Also: UNHCR site contact: here
very useful site: here
articles/stories i stumbled upon: one, two

I wish you the best of luck buddy :)

thanks man, I am sure this is helpful! pretty appreciated

PS: my advice, don't go 'outing' yourself if you're not sure what might happen XD

PPS: This sounds so serious now that i've finished typing all this. Is everything OK dude? Are you asking for yourself?

I am fine dude, nothing serious! I just can't imagine continuing living like this for too long and I am asking for myself yes.

I get your point, I am only being oppressed psychologically along with many homosexuals. I guess you are right, there are others who need the help more.
