No keep them, a bundled game is still a sold game.

You are correct to an extent. These are sales numbers but these are still sales. Most of these software titles provide a large amount of incentive to purchase the hardware. And in the case of Wii Sports you can make a good argument that people buy the console for Wii Sports specifically.
The fact is that no matter how you look at it these items are being sold and in a lot of cases they are the actual reason for the sale. Ultimately not counting them in the sales chart is fairly disingenuous on its own.
With that said it wouldn't bother me if they were marked as being bundled but then we are back in the same situation where "a newbie comes to this site with little knowledge about this industry, and sees the top games bundled, he would get a distorted view and think these weren't amazing games with great legs but just crappy pack-ins being forced on consumers."
I don't know about the rest of the pack-in games but Wii Sports has proven that it is an amazing game with great legs by its sales numbers in jJapan so I would think it at least has earned its right to stay on the list as is, but some people like to use this "bunlded shouldn't count" argument as a method to discredit Wii software sales.
My take is to just leave things as they are, people with the wrong impression are more likely to ask with the current situation than they would be if the titles were just missing.

To Nintendo Fanboy,
I have been coming to this site for over a year and I have been commenting regularly on the news section for about 5 months now. You seem to imply that because I don't use the forum much, that this makes me a non-member or an outsider. I think your wrong on that. As for my use of (We) in my topic title...I didn't realize people were going to get so sensitive to that. In no way did I mean that I own this site or have any percentage of ownership in this site. But I am a member and I do contribute my views and insights a good deal in the news section. Now, I think this is a valid point which does belong in an open forum. And I have the right to share this point of view with you weather I have no posts or 10,000 posts.
Hmm...how many copies did SMB sell without the bundled ones?
Just a thought...should all those be removed too??
I vote for leaving bundled games in, but somehow denoting them as bundled (e.g., with an asterisk). This option would provide the most information to visitors/readers.
| Fonzerelli said: My solution is simple, if people are paying for the bundled game, it has to be included. Wii + Wii Sports costs 249$/Euro in NA and PAL territories. Wii w/o Wii Sports cost about 190$ in Japan. Which means NA and PAL countries are paying 50-60$ more for Wii Sports. Hence it has to included. Forza and Marvel Ultimate Allaince are being given for the same cost, hence it could be excluded from the charts. Most PS3 bundles work out 25-30$ per bundled game and they could be included in the charts. The 80GB PS3 + Motor Sports and the PS3 Starter Pack bundles in E.U factor in the cost of the extra h/w and games in the final pricing. My basic logic is, as long as you are paying for the bundled software it has to be included in the charts. |
No.
In England, it is £300 R.R.P. for the 40GB PS3 and it is $400 for it in the US with Spiderman 3 BD, the equivalent of $200. Does this mean that the americans are paying -$200 for Spiderman? No it means that Sony charge more in the US
SMB did not sell 30-40 million games(whatever the total is). 30-40 million people had the game because it was bundled with the system they bought. So it should be indicated somehow on the chart. Yahoo actually did a column a few months ago on the best selling video games of all time. And they had them in two groups. Bundled and single. I think for comparison its the fair way to do it
