This is why I argued so harshly in that thread awhile back that asked people to mention the first game that comes to mind when they say 'platformer'. I couldn't understand why Mario wasn't the only answer as it IS platforming. The creator and sustainer of the entire genre as well as catapult for gaming in so many ways.

If electricity would not have been invented, this site would not exist. If mario did not exist, there would have been some other game to take its "place".

To call a game an inventions is pretty weird, but to call a game one of the greatest inventions is just.... something else.
