It's not option with sandbox games.

Its just as good as asking who cares about games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 or GOd of War 3...and even like asking who gives a damn on Avatar's Blue-Ray...

For some reason... I doubt those games absolutely required BluRay.

God of war 3 uses 40 GB of data

Uncharted 2 is 22 GB

MGS4 is about 26 GB

While those games are completely uncompressed, even once compressed they need bluray...

Next gen will be interesting to say the least, but bluray is absolutely not necessary this gen. 5 years in and howmany 360 games need disk swaps? I know 2 (FF13 and Lost Oddisey)...with 2 more to come out (rage and Castlevania lords of shadow).

Forza doesn't count as it needs an install to add cars, and not a swap.

You can remove Castevania. It's an install as well.

lol, sure.  Open world games sounds right. Rage will be an open world game and it apparently needs 2 disks...

Of course also open world games work with several dvds but imagine for example GTA on multiple dvds. When you drive to other island you would have to always change disc. That would be more than annoying.

But multiple DVDs is an option. So you can't really say they need BluRay. Also, we don't really know if those games can fit on single DVD compressed.

Other games that use multiple discs are Star Ocean 4, Blue Dragon, and Mass Effect 2. Only a tiny portion of the 360's library uses multiple discs.

It's not option with sandbox games.

Depends. If they can't fit the world of a sandbox game on a single DVD, that's an issue.

However, if a lot of data is just being used for story content, dialogue, FMV, and other stuff like that. Than a sandbox game could be use multiple discs. Mass Effect 2 is an example of this.

Years ago they predicted a hard drive would be requried to play some games. Worst case scenario that comes true for a some titles.

But when next gen starts (2012-2013) blu-ray drives are already so cheap that I really don't see any logical reasons not to include one in your console. It's easier for developers and consumers.

Forza 3 does not count? Would their be an second disc if all cars (tracks) fit on one disc?

Anyway their are more some slipped out of my mind...Mass Effect 2, Infinite undiscovery..Last Renmant, magna carta 2 etc...

Well MS is saying why they don't need BluRay inparticular.

Nintendo has always use proprietary discs. I imagine MS can do the same if they don't want to pay BluRay royalties.

People buy game consoles for games. If BluRay players are cheap by the time next gen rolls around. People will see less value in a console with BluRay capabilities.
