The only time I am pulling for the Wii, it has let me down. But, I never underestimate the power of the Wii during the holidays.

It's going to need to do wonders to win. Not only will you have to hope 360 goes flat YOY, you'll need it to drop with Kinect. You'll also need Wii to climb over last years sales, where it had NSMB and a Price cut. Not to mention, UK has just gone Xbox crazy this year ..

I think fact Wii does so well in Europe and NA and .. everywhere during the holidays misguided you, even last year in the UK they were relatively close.

It just means UK means very little when all is settle.

Yup, and that you were wrong!

I thought Reach would easily be over a million in EMEAA alone. I'm not surprised the Wii is in 3rd this week, they have nothing good out right now.

So much for the Move being in high demand.

Well...

It did put PS3 ahead of the Wii.

So it could have been worse, and been in 3rd place

Man, if I were you, I would just ignore such posts. I mean, little software, and no advertising. It's delusional to even suggest such things.

Move may not have been heavily marketed as Reach, but they were plenty of adverts and lot of word of mouth for this device.

I disagree.

I haven't seen THAT many adverts. I've seen 3 adverts for it in the UK on TV. One of those was today.

And word of mouth? What? These sales account for 2 days on the market. 2 days.

I don't watch TV, so can't comment on that, I've seen lots of bus stop adverts though.

FWIW I've noticed dozens of adverts during all the crap my girlfriend watches....

Japan has sided with the PS3 Leo-J Multimedia Device

UK with Xbox 360 Selnor Multimedia Device

You have PlayStation in your name and "rock" after it yet you side with the Wii Soriku Entertainment System......why?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

While NSMB was still a big hit even there, UK was relatively speaking a weaker area for it. I don't think it's too far out to say that after it's predecessor being in the GFK top ten consistently since January, Just Dance 2 may actually a bigger title than NSMB was for the UK. That said, it's a direct sequel which diminishing it's potential to push hardware, and even if it didn't it wouldn't necessarily mean that it would beat the 360 in this race.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

How else do you explain the 360 having moved millions of additional hardware between Halo 3 and Reach and an extra 50k this week, yet Reach is only up 50k from Halo 3?

Surely you cant believe people who bought Halo 3 and were avidly playing it online years after release dont want more Halo? Because i find that hard to believe considering how well it was received. So thus, id be compelled to say that the many millions of new xbox 360 oweners between Halo 3 and today and the 50k more consoles sold form last week are more to do with people who already had access to Halo 3 and a 360.

But thats my rational. Care to explain why you feel Halo 3 sales and Reach sales are different by 5% when the userbase has grown by leaps and bounds? Id argue, as i just did, that its because those users who bought Halo 3, bought Reach. And you?

You must be Vulcan because that was ... logical.

Well overall given the console sales that have been made thus far it is quite arguable that the majority of consoles sold in response to 'any game' are probably going to people who already own 'a current console'. Like for instance it is quite probable that a lot of people who bought a PS3 'for Uncharted 2' probably already own an Xbox 360 or Wii.

In Uncharted's case, however, there was no dedicated fanbase (at least, that's what I gathered as part of Reasonable's argument) . And what were the ratios of console sales versus software sales? How big of an impact was Reach's bundle?

From how I saw it, it appeared that Reach was a pretty good hardware mover here.

Its more the case that hardcore gamers will eventually migrate to being in the position of having two or more current generation consoles. Uncharted 2 was merely a facilitator in that process. Its the hardcore gamer who is likely to pick up a console and game at once on the first week of release.
