Sure.

It looks on-rails because it is so fantastically designed. It makes people think that design of that quality would only be possible in an on-rails game. But the game isn't on-rails.

Yeah I know it isn't on rails because else we would have heard that from the people getting the hands-on behind closed doors in August.

But what if the movement and camera control is very limited? Like they could make the default walking very slow, and then force you forward by literally push you forward when they decide to. Similar to on-rails games where the pacing and camera switches between standing still - slow walk - fast walk - run/fall. In that gameplay it seemed like the player was pushed off ledges and in and out of rooms several times and he even seemed to auto-run a few times (yikes)! Further, the camera control seemed slow, just like in cut-scenes of other games where you can look around freely but very slowly and then scripts control all the fast camera pans to where they want you to watch.

Bear in mind that this is being played by somebody who is paid to show off the game. He wants it to look as impressive as possible. That means walking slowly, looking around you slowly, following along and taking the perfect path, never hesitating in movement or combat...

We'll have to wait and see just how much of that was actually controlled by the player, but I get the impression that it was the large majority.

True, he was paid to play and knew exactly what to do in every situation.

I wonder how they're gonna pull this off on the PS3 and X360, how close they can reach graphically to what we've seen tonight.

That guy needs to learn how to shoot. That looked great though, and that's saying a lot for me because I didn't particularly enjoy/get off the first level of the first BioShock. This one's on my radar though.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It looks beautiful, but I am not impressed.

Why are they doing this to me :S

The game looks awesome stop showing it if its not going to come out soon :S

lol @ some being threatened at the concept of a non-exclusive being GOTY. Cute.

That was insanely, unbelievably impressive. And it's still 2 years off! This may be one of the greatest games of all time.

Game of the year 2011? Might be impossible since there is a good chance it won't be released until 2012

lol, notice how they always somehow bring up the Uncharted franchise.

I agree with you.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

well, never succeed to finish Bioshock (stopped at 90%)

but I can still say what I think :

- I dont like the "rails sections", it may be funny but it just looks so so so "unrealistic" : "I grap a piece of metal that I found earlier, I grap the rail, there we go !"

- I hate (as in Bios1) when the guy find something and say to himself : "let's drink it" or worse "let's inject it in my blood" .... this is just painfully stupid. They should try to make it become a necessity to force the player to do it !
You dont randomly inject or drink everythink you find particularly when nothing is written on the bottle !

- this is really Bioshock2

Time to Work !

lol why at 90%?

Since when has Bioshock even come close to game of the year. This for example (Bioshock 2) theres been Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake and probably many others that I cant think of off the top of my head that easily beat it out.
