Forums - Sony - WKC series is Destined for Greatness, and completely misjudged!

Ok I know I am extremely late to this party but I JUST beat WKC(my PS3 died a while back among other things impeding me).  And I must say.... I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

I truly don't understand why this game got so much flak. Yea, it could be finer tuned but I find it's gameplay cool and exiting and it's story light hearted with some depth. Most of the complaints i may have for the game are technical drivle( lip sync was annoying, faster Action bar, Enemy distance issue) but the game's mechanics are solid enough to be truely enjoyable.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, why did everyone hate the story? I kept hearing how cliche it was blah blah and by the end of it I felt it was anything but. Totally wasn't expecting Kara to be The Black Knight. I think this game mostly played on the idea that it sounded cliche from the start but turned into something completely new and fresh. You lose not one but 2 characters towards the End of it all which is a rare video game occurance and can only be seen in a handful of titles. I genuinely felt for Kara and her struggle with what she had to do and her friends. Also thought Ceasar's character was brilliant. Also there is the Love triangle between Leonard, Princess, and Yuri. Everytime we see Leonard fond over the princess you see Yuri die a little more inside which was very appropriate and I thought it was refreshing from the obvious love stories you see so often.

END SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just think a lot of people misjudged this game. It still has so much potential to be a gaming series I could continue to play for years to come. I just hope WKC2 comes swiftly with it's new ability for your avatar to summon his/her own knight as well as a slew of other online modes. Story seems as if it will be far more intense and really advance out of the norm even further.

Also there is Dogma Wars that I hope hits america as well. I had my doubts early on. Level 5 to me is known for awesome combat systems in their RPGs but very hit or miss with stories. I feel they finally got a good balance of both in WKC and I hope they continue on with it.

Biggest disappointment ever.

I have the Japanese Version WKC2 is a big improvement on the first WKC the enemy AI is taffer then the first and the combat is faster passed to with ranged attacks added to the mix. you can also import your  game data from the first WKC to. BTW there is only going to be one more WKC game after WKC2 it was planed a trilogy from day one with no more planed after that.

Actually, it's not going to be a trilogy, according to the series creator or one of those top honchos. The rumor about it being a trilogy was just that, a rumor. It was never planned to be a trilogy and WKC2, apparently, will be the end for the PS3 series (unless it does very well sales-wise).

My biggest disappointment with the game was the fact that my dog could play this game and win with no problems. It is mind-numbingly ridiculously easy and also quite short.

I really liked the game itself, but there was too many re-used variables in the game. Especially when it came to the monsters.

I will be buying WKC2 as I am interested in what happens in the story, but whether it will be for full price or not is up to Level-5 and how they fix what they broke the first time.

I have a question!

WKC2 comes with WKC right?

And is WKC much better with the upgraded features?

WKC is crap and very dissapointing, Mobs hitting you from a mile away, not to mention the fightable npc in every quest are crap and die too fast. And the grinding is just too much, basicly thats all that you do in this game. Not metion the mats that you can buy if you dont feel like grinding, what the hell they cost so much compared when earning the money in the game. And the bufss, can we really call them buffs, like after 4 hits you need to rebuf. Seriously i can go on and on about how crap this game is. This game imo was a total failure.

Well while the story was pretty easy to beat, the real challenge is with the quests online. I knew it was going to be heavily online based when I bought it so I was not dissappointed in it whatsoever. I still dont understand why this game got lamented for things other games got away with...

-The whole enemies hitting you from a distance thing, FFXII is also guilty of that as well as many early RPGs where the characters didn't even move from their spot to attack. Why is it that people forget this is a turn based RPG at heart? Its just like FFXIII, FFXII,FFXI, etc. Thats why there is an ATB bar, it just allows you to run around while battling because having the party stand in a row when they attack is ludicrous in this day and age.  It's not Kingdom Hearts which is a true Action RPG with no ATB just raw hack and slash and stat building.

-Level 5 built the story to be accessible(maybe too much). The story is meant to be played for just that, the story. Then they expected everyone to move on to the online portion. Thats where all the real challenge lies. Trying to get "S" rank in all the quests is no easy task. It requires precision of a team and proper skill usage. I like the fact that there is never any RIGHT way to face an enemy, only ANOTHER way. Magic is useful but not necessary. I personally mostly use it to eliminate huge numbers of enemies fast. This may be something Monster Hunter fans can understand and I definitely see the inspiration WKC took from those games.

-ATB meter moves just as fast or even faster then most turned based JRPGs(WHich is what this game really is). Also your armor and weapon are what controls how fast it goes. If you wear light armor and use smaller weapons it will be really fast. All you twitch players should experiment with that.

-Yes I do agree the story was too short but it was sweet.

-Yes there was definitely also many reused mobs but this sort of thing never bothered me. I don't know why it matters how many different looking enemies a game has.

You don't get the Original WKC with WKC2 jus the ability to import your character data from WKC into WKC2, which allows you to start the game with all characters from LV40 if you got them past that point in WKC.

WKC2 is what WKC should have been i terms of difficulty and combat speed and online upgrades.
