Forums - Nintendo - Itagaki hints ... a New Nintendo system???

It begins......

More mysteriously, Itagaki said that the game could be released on platforms in addition to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. "We're developing it so that it can be brought to as yet unknown hardware as well. Specifically, the various areas of technology are scalable."

Impress asked if this means Nintendo 3DS and a next generation PSP are included in Itagaki's sights. Responded Itagaki, "More than that, although I can't say this easily because I don't have any information, it's possible that Nintendo could release a higher end console. Something like that."

He has no information and of course it's possible that Nintendo could release a higher end console. It's also possible that Nintendo could release a lower end console. Anything is possible after all.

The interview was about Devil May Cry a game scheduled for the autumn of 2011, so if there's another console in the horizont at least he knows the tentative release date, that or maybe he's afraid of Nintendo's Ninjas

Not a DMC game, just a game called Devil's Third.

I think he may just be stating the obvious, saying that just in case a new console comes out, the game is scalable. Not that he actually knows something sinc ehe said he doesn't know anything. Still kinda vague though but that may be what he's saying.

Oh yeah it's Devil's third my mistake.

Anything's possible.

Look Rol, i know you're a comedian but that wasn't even slightly amusing.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Maybe... However if there was a new console releasing next year we would start to hear about it now given the intense secrecy thats recently engulfed the games industry and the longer development time for console games.

Tease.

In fairness, it's not like we knew anything about 3DS last year... Nintendo's good with secrets.

Besides, I bet Hayashi knows about Wii 2. [/burn]

Yep. That was excellent work, however they did kind of announce it at the time when they probably couldn't keep it a secret any longer. It was better that they announce a new product that to have it leaked before hand. Handhelds have much shorter development times so they can get away with not telling people for a while.

Tease.

Does Itagaki do Polyphony Digital length development cycles?

If so his game will be ready for Wii 3
