Oh, and it goes without saying but:  Built in camera!  It's too much trouble getting pictures of my junk on the PSP as it is.  With a built in camera, I can see my balls on the PSP2 in seconds!!

-Proper PSN support. None of this game-by-game ad-hoc/infrastructure crap.

-3G. Limiting a handheld to Wifi is like limiting a fan to only working when it is under 20 degrees outside.

-Dual Analog. Single analog doesn't work. Seriously.

-Four shoulder buttons. Holding select and pressing L/R is not fun.

-SD Card Games. Or really, anything other than UMD.

-BIG screen. Because big things are good

-Touch screen. Because touching is fun, and every portable and its dog has a touchscreen nowadays.

-Low price. People don't buy expensive things.

-Games. This is important. Good games, to be more precise.

It amazes me that nobody thought to post this before you, Darth!

1.  Games:  A video game console lives and dies by its game library.  The PSP needs to have a strong library of games designed specifically for the portable experience.  Bite sized games that pack a big punch.  More SRPG's like Valkyria, FF Tactics, games like Monster Hunter, and such.  Portable games that are console experiences are all well and good, but they suffer on a portable system that many break out when they're bored.

Have some dedicated PSP developers.

2.  Online capability:  I'd pay $50 a year with a smile on my face (maybe more) if the PSP2 could access the net with the speed and efficiancy of an iPhone or a Droid X.  In this day and age, everything has a built in browser.  The PSP browser should be powerful and not have to rely on Wi-Fi hotspot, either.

Yes... except for the paying part.

3.  Dual Analog:  This is potentially where the 3DS slipped up.  It took a little getting used to but the analog nub on the PSP works great.  Toss in a second one, and we're in business!

And improve it!

4.  Huge Screen:  This is another area that the first PSP excelled.  Yes, the 3DS can display video in 3D but it's still  going to be on a tiny screen.  Even most cell phones suffer from having smaller screens.  Movie buffs on the go would consider the PSP2 if the viewing experience is the best around.

If it's not a button, speaker, there for comfort or part of the screen.. it's a waste of space.

5.  Aggressive Pricing:  Price it near the 3DS.  Whatever that console costs, price the PSP similarly.  The less bulletpoints that the competition has, the better.  Cost $100 more than the competition, and the battle is over before it even starts.

This.

6.  Don't push graphics too much:  Because, as it stands, graphics on the original PSP are pretty damned good.  A slight improvement would be welcome but don't spend tons and tons of R&D on technology that won't be appreciated by anyone except a small minority.  On a relatively tiny screen, "good enough" is good enough.

Let's make it orgasmic.

7.  3D screen:  So people will say they're copying Nintendo.  Who gives a shit!  Copy them!!  This is one selling point that Sony can't afford to overlook.  No matter how good the graphics, how sharp the screen, or how good the games, there are going to be people who get a 3DS simply because they're curious about the 3D.  Sony needs to be able to say, "Hey!  We have 3D, too!"  Hell, if they're lucky, there will be those that think Sony's 3D is better.

Sure. Why not?

What I'd like.

The PSP2 really needs at least decent 3rd party support.  I myself expect the PSP2 to only capture about 20-25% of the 8th gen handheld market, the rest going to the 3DS.  Despite this, I expect the PSP2 to get similar 3rd party support as the PSP had done in recent years (Various Monster Hunters, FF Spin offs, Kingdom Hearts, Valkyria Chronicles, etc).  With the 3DS gaining an MGS games (this gen has only been on Sony handhelds) and RE (possibly originally RE PSP?), the PSP2 needs to retain as much 3rd party support as it possibly can.

1.Sony should really focus in online aspect. Build in 3G and you could for example connect to PSN and play new call of duty with friends while sitting in the buss . That would be amazing selling point.

2. Build in PS2 emulator. You don't have to have as powerfull device as PS3 to run PS2 games. Just build PSP2 with somewhat similar hardware as PS2. Portable PS2 would be amazing. Sony could also start to sell PS2 games in PSN.

3. Of course also partial backwards compatibility. Not with UMD versions but at least with PSN versions of original PSP games.

4. Launching price of 199$. Graphical leap wouldn't be that amazing but little better than original xbox graphics are more than enough.

5. Dual analog like pretty many here have said.

6. More focus on producting quality games for the system. PSP lacked of serious first party effort. Sony has even bigger first party than Nintendo (Employee wise) so they should have manpower to do those games.

An analog stick. itll be successful but it wont reach 3ds level of success its not versatile in terms of getting a wide audience to me.

Exclusive games that are only available or possible on the PSP2.

And that's a very tall order if the device is essentially a iPhone/Droid minus the phone capabilities and subscription plans.

So something beyond dual analog nubs, improved processing capabilities and a touch screen interface would probably be needed.

While I realize I don't represent the majority of PSP owners, I only bought one to play the games that I couldn't play on any other platform. If I could have played them via emulation on the PS3, I never would have bought one.
