I'm really sad, my dog, Snowy, is very ill and has been for a few weeks. She's going to be put to sleep this afternoon.

She's 16 years old, and really lovely. She's with me now. I've been hoping that she would get better, but I think this is the end. She can't eat anything and she's so thin and weak now.

I'm more upset than I thought I would be.

EDIT - Snowy died today at 14:30 GMT. Thank you so much for all your nice messages, they really mean a lot.

Rest in peace Snowy. You were a wonderful dog.

Yeah, its a very long time. She's had cancer twice and a couple of strokes, but she's always held in there.

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's always tough loosing a loved one. Just cherish the time that you have left with her. When I had my dog put to sleep I was heart broken but I knew it was for the better. It was very hard watching him suffer he was also very ill.  She is very Beautiful.  Take care and remember we are all here for support. 

I'm very sorry you have to go through this. I had to put my dog down three years ago, it was such a hard thing to do. You have my sympathy.

You're right, I'm going to take her for her last walk. I'll have to carry her because she can't walk very well, but I can take her to her favourite spots.

Must be terrible. Poor doggy. At least she won't suffer anymore. 16 years is probably a lot in dog years.
