Forums - Nintendo - People are forgetting about Wii!

I read multiple articles over the last few days talking about Move and Kinect and talking about which one will beat the other. Then in VGChartz own article it says can Move lessen the gap between Sony and Microsoft. No mention of Nintendo in any of the articles and posts I've read thus far.

The question I want to know is can Kinect or Move actually lessen the gap between Sony/M$ and Nintendo? Can Move beat Motion Plus, can Kinect beat the Wiimote. Will Kinect or Move mark a revolution in the current generation, can they upset Nintendo.

I feel the message coming from reporters and writers of VGChartz and many other sites and threads means only one thing. Either the writer is writing Nintendo off and assuming Move and Kinect are the future, or they are writing Sony and Microsoft off by assuming Kinect and Move aren't a threat to Nintendo.

I mean if you don't mention Nintendo your obviously either writing them off or writing Move/Kinect off. It's something that gamers and reporters have done since the GameCube, always focusing on X-Box and PlayStation2, then with Wii the gaming comunity in large said that it was a childs toy a gimick and again only talked about X-Box 360 and PS3. Then when Wii beat both platforms you look in the media right now and whats being reported? 360 and PS3 competition. Even though Nintendo is the leading platform holder.

So do you think people are over/under estimating Nintendo in their coverage. If so why are they doing so?

Do you think media and gamers are giving Wii unfare coverage?

Wii what? Never heard of it. Sounds like some penis joke?

Wii is far ahead. There is currently no competition with it at the moment. So, it is clear that MS and Sony are trying to overtake each other.

But if sale of Wii falls in the next two years and 360 and PS3 sales rise, we will count all three.

I think Kinect will have a bigger impact this year. The PS3 has no appealing games for move as of now... And since Kinect is different than a Wii mote, well maybe, why not?

No but I would think with Kinect and Move both competing head to head with the Wiimote that more gamers and media would be comparing the two devices to Nintendo. I was also suprised to see it not mentioned in the VGChartz article as usually VGChartz is more unbiased.

I think it's cuz those two are the newest motion controllers, we already know exactly what the Wii can do (functionality and sales) but those two are still unproven/unknown in that regard

you don't see anybody still talking about the "zomg capabities" of PS360, and comparing textures/pixels for both, it's not fun anymore >_<

It's not a matter of bias, imo. It's about writing articles that will interest your audience/bring in advertising revenue.

If you're the typical MS/Sony fanboy, would you read an article with heading

Kinect and Move go head to head to decide whether the PS3 can outsell the 360

or

Kinect and Move to come out, probably be moderately sucessful but have no real large scale impact on the generation as a whole

No I expect to see

"Kinect and Move launch will they dethrown the king"

An article that appeals to fans of all three platforms is way more likely to draw readers and advertisements then ignoring the biggest competitor in the market.

Plus if Kinect and/or Move were to be as big as Microsoft and Sony are hyping them up to be the article's header exactly what Sony and Microsoft want to hear.

Whats a Wii? :/

Well the thing is, the Wii is considered old and in some ways a lot of what people thought the system could / would do for genres like first person shooters etc hasn't eventuated. So people now look to Move and Kinect in a different fashion and they hope that they can do what the Wii failed to do in some ways. So they look to something which is new and untested and they hope that the same thing would not happen again in relation to themselves as an audience.
