While you definitely have a point, we don't know if it's curable.

Additionally, if IIRC and all actions happen at once during the night, the poison won't be capable of curing, because death and cure would happen simultaneously. I'll ask dtewi.

Also, in FF some status effects wear off by themselves.. so who knows what will happen.
