Forums - Microsoft - Halo Reach reviews vs. Halo 3: ODST vs. Halo 3 reviews.

I think it is better for Reach to have more "honest" scores...  100's across the board like Halo 3, Killzone 2, GTA IV, etc received seemed to be "managed marketing" (and probably was).  It is about time that "honest" scores prevail.  Anything above 85 is usually worth playing and puts a game into exclusive company.  No doubt Reach will stay in this group.

There are a lot of great games this gen that didn't get 90 scores...  Crackdown, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, Left 4 Dead, the Burnouts, Bad Company 2, etc.  To me, most of these games are just as good or better then Forza 3, Killzone 2, Halo ODST, etc.

You have to remember that we are only days for the game's release rather then weeks ahead.  Remember, Halo 3 and Killzone 2?  Both had insane metacritic scores for a month then plumetted 4-5 points when the "honest" reviews came out near the release date.  There was obviously incentive to make a positive review because it would be OK'd to be published early generating "exclusive-like" traffic to your review site.  With Reach review scores coming out only days before the game this leaves reviewers room to be honest.

Wow im glad some of you can read people minds, to tell if they are indeed being biased.
Because you know, i liked odst alot because it was different to the other halo's. IMO its the second best halo, after CE.

I know you guys try to generalize me as a 360 fanboy because sometimes I rip on Sony(for mistakes they have made this generation, mostly) but I've cancelled my preorder for Reach.

If this game isn't at least twice as good as Halo 3(which I don't like), then I don't need to play it. I'll save my money for Fallout. I preordered off hype, but the reviews(text only) have convinced me that this campaign isn't as good as I had hoped, so I'm skipping it. I made the mistake of buying a couple of other crappy(based on single player) games based off hype, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2, and their campaigns were worse than Halo 3(which was pretty bad) so screw it. I might not buy another FPS until HL2Episode 3.

The two best FPS games this gen have easily been Modern Warfare and Half Life 2, and nothing else has even been close. :P And for the record, Fallout 3 is a WRPG, not a FPS.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Dont care much for unknown/small sites, so it doesnt mean much. All i can see its the big ones love Reach. And it looks better than i first could imagined, that says very much = first day purchase for me.

You have to be shitting me.  A couple no name sites bag it, leaving most well known sites with 95 or better and you think its going to be bad?  The sites that have it at 85 or below is just trying to score some hits and collect add money thats it.  I'll be keeping my copy and enjoying the hell out of its coop with all my buddies.

I shit you not. I read the GiantBomb review, and that confirmed my worst fears. The campaign is not revamped from previous installments. It is a Halo campaign. A good one, but not as good as CE. It has improved graphics. I'm not really a Halo fan. I seriously did cancel my preorder off amazon last night after I read the Giantbomb review, and I'll pick it up when it's 20 bucks, but the only reason I preordered it, is because I figured it would be a campaing that reached Modern Warfare or Half Life 2 standards, and from what I've read, it does not.

To spend 60 dollars on a game, I have to be sure I'm going to love it.

The Coop will be better than anything either of those 2 games can muster.  But to each his own.  IMHO there are few campaigns that are as good as HALO's coop.

I'm sorry, Killzone 2 got 100's across the board?

Those 4/5 reviews ruin the metacritic score.
