Forums - General - Has anyone blamed games for the recent shootings yet?

bit off topic but a little while ago some P-plater crashed and in the paper it had a few lines and then said... "before they left to drive they were playing -- and they had a giant picture of need for speed. so basically they blamed 5 peoples deaths on need for speed :P

The obsession some of these shooters have for violent videogames actually demonstrates a pretty serious problem that never seems to be discussed ... Why is it that no one notices that a someone has become amazingly withdrawn and escaped into a volent fantasy world until after they snap and shoot 20 people?

Back in school, one of my friends decided that he had no future in Computer Science and decided to drop out of school; the college I was in at the time had a strict policy that no student would be able to withdraw from all of their classes until they were cleared by one of the councelors. At the time he bitched and complained that it was such a waste of time but I saw it differently; at least someone was looking out to make sure he was making a decision in his best interests.

I blame Wii sports.

What? Putting is frustrating.

If I was one ball away from a perfect game in Wii Bowling and I missed it, I'd go on a killing spree, sure.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I think he just bought "Master Chef" and after he realized it had nothing to do with Halo, he went on a killing spree.

IN miami "GTA vice city(setting in florida)" some kid high jaked a car thinking it was GTA the game.

The only way this is remotely believable is if drugs were involved...and in that case I don't think the game is the problem since the psychotic hallucinations were related to the drugs not the game.

Yes, but since the government has its finger in the drug pie, they'll blame the video games instead.

If Cho had played videogames he would have had more headshots, less kills, and there would have been reports of teabagging.

Besides with REAL news no one needs to rely on Thompson for ratings.
