I havent read all of the reviews... what are the common gripes?

 

Their is a lot of hate on the bungie forums though;.. 

If I would summarize what I read the last few weeks on the forums:

* 90% of what is changed between Halo 3 and Halo reach make it worse*.

- The new weapons mostly suck.
- The maps are worse than Halo 3's maps and get pretty tiredsome soon..It also not helps to
  have some halo 2 maps in a new jacket..
- The armor abilties are more annoying than fun...Nothing is so fun like someone who goes invisible whole match ;
- Issues with the playlists (to much infection to much swat) but Bungie is making more playlist...Team Swat is already up and Infection will be relaesed somewhere at the end of this month..
- The challenges/CR is splitting the fanbase in two...Nothing is so annoying as team mates who play bad simply because they are doing something for the challenges or getting commondations. Their was thread that said you need to get 22 million CR points to get to the highest ranks (not LT Colonel,  the ranks will be later available this year or next year).  That is around 50.000 matchmaking matches....That is why their are so many CR farmers (sword base/gruntacoplypse). Makes the game feel more like COD then Halo

-The campaign is okay  some say it sucks some say it is great but I guess it is for the average bungie.net forum member 'Okay' and worse than halo 3's campaign.

Etc..

I agree with some points especially weapons and maps...I enjoy the forge world maps the most and sword base..But the rest are mediocre for me as best.

The Halo fans were way more happy with Halo 3 then Halo reach so yes I understand the lower review scores, I think it would be way less than 92 if the Bungie;net forum member may vote.





 

Im doubting Killzone 3 will have higher than Killzone 2 based on this and that makes me sad x(. Hopefully it will overcome deh odds :/

 

Reach seems to be like the ultimate Halo game and with what's improved, I have a hard time seeing it be lower than Halo 3 (and I dont really like Halo). Would be strange to have Killzone 3 be higher than Killzone 2 since it's just .. "killzone" just alike halo is "halo" lol.

halo reach destroys halo 3. this is coming from a gamer who only likes the first halo and hated 2 and 3, reach actually got me interested in the franchise again. id give halo 3 an 5/10, and reach  a 8.5/10. halo reach has its own unique feel in the campaign, it feels diffrent then the one of halo 3, well until the brutes come back, co-op is better(because they rack up the difficulty), the graphics are gorgous, the ending is very good, and the new modes and guns are very fun.

reach outdoes halo 3 on so many levels i cant understand how it got 3 points less then it on meta. it feels like halo, but it feels like a new halo. it should have gotten higher, im afraid that black ops will beat its score, and that all of the good games this fall will get bad scroes. until know im not pleased with the scores of castlevania and enslaved.

Perhaps more things like this will finally get more people to not put a whole lot of stock in the review system. I agree that this game is way better than Halo 3 in every way (perhaps the multiplayer maps aren't) and it just seems strange for it to score lower. For the main gripe to be "it's more Halo" or "more of the same" is so far off IMO simply because it's improved in so many ways. How can it be more of the same if it's better in all areas? Doesn't "the same" mean.....the same?

As far as Bungie.net, keep in mind that it's always the unhappy people who will be more vocal. For every person that's bitching about Armor Abilities because they can't get used to them or because they suck using them or whatever, there are probably thousands of people who are very happy with AA. I mean, I don't post on Bungie.net and I love the game.



I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

The only thing I'd like them to fix is the fact that people can negate getting stuck with a grenade by going into armor lock. It's especially annoying on elite slayer where there's lots and lots of grenade sticks. It's pretty stupid that armor lock blocks grenades stuck on the player before it's even activated.

Are you kidding me? Only thing people spam are fricking grenades in this game because most of the weapons have too much bloom (thus making them harder to use for most people). It's ridiculously easy to get killed by a random one you didn't see at the last second.

Also, just something I noticed, during the last week of beta, the range of the grenade explosion was fine and way more balanced, but they had to put it back like it was the first few days of the beta for the final game. Stupid idea in my opinion.

So with that said, Armor Lock for the win. Haters gonna hate!

I think that you are probably in the minority on the way you feel about the beta nades, I mean they were calling them mini-nukes and all.

As far as armor lock on Elite slayer goes, thanks for the idea. I'm usually a Sprint/Evade user but Elite slayer is a fucking sticky spam fest so I'm gonna start using this armor lock tactic. Actually, today was the first time I had someone save their own ass by using armor lock after I stuck them with the sticky launcher. I stuck him and started to back away figuring he was done for then he just armor locked real quick and proceeded to to kill me, LOL. I was too busy trying to process what just happened and this dude just owned the shit out of me, it was beautiful. 

Well I'm out all this Halo talk has me too hot and bothered to stick around you freakin' nerds all night, Im going to play me some Reach.

Nope I'm not kidding. Imo, armor lock in elite slayer is about as cheap as drop shields were in objective. I'm solely talking about sticky grenades here, and if you get stuck, it's your fault, and you shouldn't be able to negate getting stuck by pressing a button.
